Whenever I try to open up my Minecraft this pops up:

Error: Could not create the Java Virtual Machine.
Error: A fatal exception has occurred. Program will exit.

Any help on this issue is appreciated.

P.S. I'm a little computer dumb. So if you can explain in detail so i know what to do.

try to reinstall java from http://www.java.com
If you have a 64bit installation, make sure that you install the 64bit version as well.

Yea, I've already tried 64-bit. It says:
C:\Doc and Settings\My Name\Documents\Downloads\jre-7u5-windows-x64.exe is not a valid Win32 Application

After uninstalling delete the corresponding folder in C:\program files\java if there is any.
Are you using a bat file to open minecraft with more allocated memory? Try using the normal .exe of minecraft to open it instead.

If the installer hangs, it can be a different issue.
Please post a crash log, if you don't have one you can use my test script:

And of course post the result.

Seems you have a big background process and not too much RAM., can you close unneeded programs and try again? (Skype for example takes a lot of resources).

Or try to decrease memory for java a tiny bit: http://www.minecraft...-for-minecraft/
Only instead of more do less, witth the values like:
java -Xmx768M -Xms512M -jar "Minecraft.exe"

That appears to have worked

Any ideas why it would have suddenly changed?

Yeah I do, you assigned less ram to running minecraft, the minimum to actual run lays lower even a bit lower.
And you didn't have too much ram available on your system, and java indicated it could not reserve enough ram (allocate heap space).
Whit running it with a tad less memory, it fixed the issue because it could reserve that memory space.

p.s. if you use javaw instead of java, the window closes again after starting minecraft (so you don't have two screens open).

guys i had the same problem with my pc but in my sisters pc (which is exactly the same) worked?!
everyone told me it had nothing to do with the java version but still i found that i had version 7 while my sis version 6.
so i downloaded the same version exactly ( i deleted version 7 first) and the freaking error stopped popping up every time i opened minecraft.
the version is 6 update 35 SE (build 1.6.0_35-b10) google it and u will find it i guess..
hope i helped
