Hi there, I'm Cylan Tharaith and I make content packs useable with Xie's Mod.
Xie's mod allows for user to add custom content to the game using JSON syntax files. The content I add will be on various themes mostly for farming and decorative purposes.
Latest News:
12-18-2012
Content has been confirmed to be working with 1.4.5. I'm now adding my latest content files for the Christmas Holiday Season. Happy Holidays folks!.
Older News:
11-30-2012
I've gone through and checked all of my content for compatability with 1.4.2 now.
I'll be updating some content links with content tweaks and bugfixes over the next couple of hours. Please be sure to watch your item ID files if you want to use on a pre-existing world, always make backups.
11-19-2012
Happy Birthday to me!
I am back and working on getting all of this updated finally, sorry for the wait.
Between having no internet access, and my computer failing to run 1.3.2 properly at all, I just couldn't get around to any of this. Am currently collecting a list of bugs to smash and should be rolling out the updated stuff fairly soon.
8-18-2012
Content is now added into the thread, yay!
I am in desperate need of screenies for some of the content packs, volunteers are appreciated.
CTCore download updated to include beet-pineapple fix-
Thanks ChrisFFXI- for pointing out the bugs so they could be squashed!

Installation:
Requires Xie's Mod already installed!
Download content pack (be sure to check content pack info for dependancies)
Unzip pack into: /mods/xie/content folder
Load game and enjoy!
Important Info:
Enabling/Disabling Content
Xie's mod allows for easy enabling/disabling of content added to his mod with a simple change of a filename. All one needs to do to disable any file in Xie's mod is to name/rename that file with an underscore ( _ ) at the beginning of the filename.
ex: Renaming anyxiecontent.xie <---to---> _anyxiecontent.xie that file will be disabled.
To re-enable a file just reverse the process:
ex: Renaming _anyxiecontent.xie <---to---> anyxiecontent.xie and that file will be enabled.
In other words:
_name-begins-with-underscore = off
name-does-not-begin-with-underscore = on
Compatability Labels
For quick reference the following labels are placed here with the content files. The hope is to make it easier for folks to understand what files can run by themselves and which ones require other content to work. Packs themselves are labeled as a whole along with the individual files that a pack contains to make it easy to know what can be enabled/disabled without errors.
Some content may have multiple labels, be sure to read the notes on all labels with a pack.
Standalone (notes)
Running this content requires nothing but Xie's Mod being installed
Compatable (notes)
This content contains files with dependancies, read the notes in parenthesis for details
Requires: (notes)
This content is completely dependant on other content to function, read the notes in parenthesis for details
Content Packs:
New Default: (1.4.5) Standalone (can be run by itself without other content)
A rework of Xie's Default Content, changing the textures and organizing the files into a system that allows an easy enable/disable of specific content.
Adds a bunch of farming content, various new fruit trees cocoa tree, various crops, plants, foods and items for farming and cooking. This was the core of Xie's content for a very long time, with some added tweaks and bonuses. (read: bells and whistles) XD

Adds only one blockid and one itemid to the game. CTFlowers adds a variety of colorful flowers that spawn naturally in different biomes of a minecraft world. Each of the metadatas of the flowerblock is a different color flower (similar to wool). Flowers can be crafted into corresponding dye colors. Each flower also drops seeds to allow for planting colorful gardens. Flowers can be placed on any surface intentionally, allowing for interior decoration without need of random grass blocks in homes.
CTFlowers adds the following content to the game:
Read as follows: (item name-default id) CTFlowers : Standalone (can be run by itself without other content)
flowerplants=210 (block)
flowerseeds=9100
Package Contents:
CTFlowers contains the following content files:
CTflowers.png (spritesheet for flowers and items)
CTflowers-ALIAS.xie (gives each of the flowerblock metas their own names)
CTflowers-BLOCK.xie (defines the properties of the flower block)
CTflowers-IDS.xid (defines ids used by blocks and items {change if conflicts})
CTflowers-RECIPE.xie (allows crafting of seeds and getting dyes from flowers)
CTflowers-SPAWN.xie (spawn flowers in world naturally on worldgen)
Standalone (can be run by itself without other content) Download:CTFlowers
CT Core: (1.4.5) Standalone (can be run by itself without other content) Compatable (includes file with other requirements *--compat file can be disabled without issue--*)

Pack Info:
NOTE: Ships with *spawn* files disabled by default. Instructions for enable/disabling spawning
CTCore adds a ton of new content to the game. CTcore contains files that further boosters will require to function. The purpose of the Core is to create content in a single pack that can be called on by further packs to extend the farming and cooking of the vanilla game.

Known Bugs:
Chests do not render properly in inventory
CTFences do not render properly at this time
For CTfurnaces to work properly the content file : Newdefault: default-furnaces\xie-furnaces-BLOCK.xie , must be disabled!
Pack Info:
Tons of decorative stuff for making minecraft feel like "home". A very basic description of the blocks is in the "adds following content" section. Baskets of bread and sewing stuff will often drop bread/sewing stuff when picked up.. (this was intentional XD) Also I know if you look up from under tables stools and some other items they show transparent.. why were you crawling around under the table in the first place?!?
Rendering of chests in inventory is incorrect, this is an issue with Xie's mod, personally since the names come up properly I'm fine with it, they should render properly when placed. Also for furnaces to work correctly the file Newdefault: default-furnaces\xie-furnaces-BLOCK.xie must be disabled. (You must disable the campfire or else all furnaces will turn into campfire and extinguish self into pile of ash.. choose campfire or custom furnaces from this pack, you can't have both at this time (Xie is working on a fix) Instructions for enable/disabling spawning
Many mounted blocks have multiple uses, example: the "chairback" when mounted on the side of a "stool" makes said tool look like a chair, but also can be used on an "endtable" to cover up a drawer pull on a side that you don't want the pull to visually show on. XD

Known Bugs:None Yet!
Pack Info:
Personally I found that I can never have enough variety in bricks for building materials, so this pack was born. From pastel colors to all of the regular minecraft colors, and adding bricks with lovely mortar lines, sidewalks and schoolhouses will never be the same. Also adding vertically lined bricks (chargers) for use like in real world buildings (over windows and door frames), and also the lovely "herringbone" brickwork we all know from sidewalks and patios. Every color brick added comes in all three pattern varieties for building fun.

Known Bugs:Xmas tree saplings will not grow into trees at this time. Waiting for Xie to update for "pine shaped trees" to work again. Temp fix is to use inventory editor to build yourself a tree instead, stockings also give all the presents a tree would to account for them not growing and dropping items themselves atm.
Pack Info:
Where to even begin.. well start by making yourself a mailbox.. it gets stuck on a fencepost. As time goes by in the game you will see the flag come up on the mailbox, if you "harvest" it you'll find you got some holiday cards. Gather enough holiday cards on your craft table to craft up some holiday magic, and the wonders can begin. You can also get a stocking pattern in the mail, craft yourself a holiday stocking and place it in your home, in good time you will see it is full of presents for you! Presents must be placed on the ground to be "unwrapped", or just let them sit there and look pretty. Have fun with the toys you get from your holiday gifts!Cut some red thread up to make ribbons to hang your holiday cards on the wall. Make up a gingerbread man or lady cutter and bake some cookies...All in all.. Happy Holiday Fun!

I made PB&J, this also includes some cereal, one ramen, tuna macaroni, ants on a log, niku, and chichi balls. Take a look at the coding, it probably needs a lot of work. Some foods had a lot of ingredients and I had to make a new item for them. Also the textures might need work too you know you love that elbow noodle.
You can emigrate whatever you want into your mod. I'm not gonna make a new topic or whatever.
Reliance (food): bushes, plants, and CORE. crops and meats are optional. The tuna foods are reliant on my tuna fish. The milkshakes can be disabled they rely on xie-compat
Reliance (beer): you can make everything with only crops, but if you want margaritas you'll need xie's orange and the sliced lime from trees.
Q: An item or block is not showing up in game what gives? A:Typically this is caused by an ID conflict with another mod or content pack. Go to your .minecraft folder and locate "xielog.txt" post the contents of that log here on the forum in spoiler tags:
text goes here
Q: How do I change block/item IDS? A:Find the appropriate file in the content that you downloaded that is labeled as a " .xid" open it with a text editor of your choosing and alter the id numbers contained in that file to suit your needs.
I just want to say thanks again, for all the help you've given me so I can enjoy your beautiful mod. I'm going crazy on my game - my sister keeps telling me to shut up, since I keep squealing while crafting items from your content!
Here's my Xie log file - changing the block IDs around fixed a lot of the errors. Thank goodness for this log, otherwise I would have never known what to change (my game doesn't crash and tell me I have ID conflicts, anymore). I think the only thing wrong now are item ID conflicts (and also the recipe one, though I'm not sure why. I have Corn Kernels in my game, and other recipes use a Sack and they are not failing on the Xie log sheet).

Oh! In our PMs, you talked briefly of switching sprites around if we want to use an alternative pictures instead of the default. I see in the Flowers .png file that some of the flowers also have alternative pictures. So, I would just need to switch that square out with the default one, and save it to the folder? Can you use any sort of image editing program for that? I guess I just would need to be very careful to switch the pictures exactly in their boundaries.
The valentine's pack needed to be updated to be compatible with all of the changes to the other packs, it will be posted up with the others when the update once it is done (should be soon)

I think I have discovered our problems. XD and it is totally my fault. I suggested that you download the Core-4096 pack, and as I just loaded that back up I've found it has quite a few conflicts with the newdefault pack. The newest download of the Core (I finished the update and posted it last night) that is found in this thread is compatable with newdefault ctflowers etc.
The problem I am worried about for you is world corruption.. Definately backup your saves.. and I strongly suggest removing any items from chests/inventory before trying to swap out the Core content pack. With how much work it seems you've put into your farm I'd hate to see the world corrupt on you.
See one of the reasons for the big updates was to try to minimize any problem with saves due to changing block/item ids in content packs, I am sorry I didn't get this update to the Core released sooner :\
And yes, the flowers file also has some "extra" sprites in it, ones that I made and changed my mind on, but didn't see the reason to remove if someone else likes them better Most image editing programs can do that swap.. just move whatever flower you want to replace into that top row, and then place the sprite that you wanted in it's place. I had actually changed my mind on what flowers to include.. pink is echinacea, but the original concept and image was a carnation.. along with the others I changed XD
And yes, the boundaries are important.. 16x16pixel blocks starting from the upper leftmost pixel of the image, but.. if you accidently make it crooked and load the game, you will see that it is "too low" or "too high" or "too far left", and can adjust the image again. You wont irreversibly break anything by trying to move the images yourself
Oh, thanks for the warning! I copied my save before installing the new version. Everything looks to be working swell! I just need to replant stuff, since I guess ID values got shifted around between the two Core files, so the plants I had planted went kapoot. xD But, my world is fine and dandy, and my garden is still growing!
And okay, thanks for the explanation. I'm going to try switching out some pictures for the flowers, I really like the alternative orange one.
Thanks again for all your help, Cylan, I really appreciate it!

I like this and i use it but when i install on the bukkit version of Xie's Mod it wont work. Sorry i cannot get an error report for you but I talk to the mod author (Xie) and he was curious why it didnt work either
I like this and i use it but when i install on the bukkit version of Xie's Mod it wont work. Sorry i cannot get an error report for you but I talk to the mod author (Xie) and he was curious why it didnt work either
I can't say to know much at all about Xie's server version software, but to be able to help at all I'd need a bit more info than "It won't work".
1. If you install Xie's mod to the bukkit server with Xie's default content, are there any problems? If so what is the problem? (items not showing up, items having wrong names, broken images, or perhaps crashes?)
2. If installing with Xie's default content is working properly, adding my "CTCore" download what are the problems that are occurring? (items not showing up, items having wrong names, broken images, or perhaps crashes?)
3. Running Xie's content and CTCore, does this cause problems with Xie's default content as well? (ie things that were working before loading the core aren't working once the core is installed?)
4. If you remove Xie's content and run CTCore by itself what are the issues?
I want to make note, that my "newdefault" content and "Xie's default content" are faily close to being the same content, so both cannot be run together (I add a few more things to the default and organize/texture it differently than Xie-but the two are incompatable.
CTCore latest version can be run either with or without the default content (prefereably with my newdefault as they were built to work together)
I could not find any posts in Xie's thread that had any kind of detail on the problem that you are having, I wish I could be more help up front, but I need to know what is going wrong to even start to know what could fix it.
I tried to set it up on my server and am having some memory problems. Maybe someone out there can help me. Here's what I've done:
Performed the following to both client & server:
Downloaded respective Xie's mod bundle
Renamed his \mods\Xie\default\ folder to \_old_default\ then put your \newdefault\ folder in the Xie folder
Downloaded CTcore & enabled the default-multis folder
Then I fired up my server, saw 2 ID conflicts for chilipepper stuff, fixed them on client & server both, deleted my world folder for the server then fired up the server again. No conflicts, yay!
Fired up my client, connected to server, got "out of memory" error within Minecraft client with options to quit game or return to title screen.
I setup my server to run with 4096mb instead of 1024 and my client to use 8096 instead of 2048 then tried again - same result.
The java.exe process on my client does end up going over 6gb of memory usage right before the game soft-crashes.
The server java.exe process never goes over about 1.5gb of memory usage.
I re-disabled the \default-multis\ folder but that didn't make a difference.
I tried turning on all the spawning just for fun. That of course didn't make a difference.
However, I can run single-player with everything enabled including spawning & default-multis and have no problems. It only runs out of memory when I try to connect to server.
Any ideas would be helpful, thanks! I need to start a new server & client from scratch and see if it works. I have several other mods installed that might have issues with some of the CTcore stuff I guess.
I started a brand new client & server, installed Forge 3.3.8.164 on each, ran MCPatcher, then made sure they both worked. Of course they worked fine. I stuck Xie bundle in client & server, then newdefault and CTcore (leaving multis & spawns disabled), fired up server, created new world, and tried to connect. Same problem with Java running out of memory. Not sure what the problem could be at this point. I'll tinker with it some more later tonight.
Also tried it with just CTcore and no other content. Same java out of memory issue occurs.
Alright having a series of answers as to what is going on definately helps.
Have you tried booting the server up with Xies Mod and the default content that it contains without any editing?
1. Don't add in the Core or newdefault, just run xie's default content. Is there an error occuring? If so post result, if not continue...
2. If no error with packaged contents: remove xie's default content folder completely (don't underscore it delete it) install the newdefault content alone (do not add the core at this time) Try to load again, does the error occur? If so post result, if not continue...
3. If no error with newdefault contents:.. add the Core. Try to load again, does the error occur? If so post result, if not continue...
4. If no error at this time, you have newdefault and Core running properly, enjoy
...Following the above will show me which content pack is at fault for the issue and from there I will do what I can to resolve it for you.
Thanks a bunch for the reply. Please don't worry about me yet, I'll keep playing around with different setups. I didn't have enough time earlier to narrow it down like you suggest, but I planned on doing exactly what you said. Now that I have some time, I set up a fresh server & client then added Forge, NotEnoughItems, and OptiFine. Made sure I did that all correctly, then added Xie and his default content folder. Then created a new world and started flying around in it. It seemed good until suddenly my game will just freeze for a few seconds then crash. I need to do some more testing. I really wanna use Xie's mod and your content on my server, so I'll keep going at it.
OK I did some serious testing. Fresh 1.2.5 client & server with Forge 3.3.8.164. This time I didn't install anything else - no optifine or texture packs or NEI.
Xie's bundle works well, no errors or crashes.
Deleted his default content and inserted your newdefault content. It works with no errors or crashes.
Put CTcore files in - now the client starts giving me the "out of memory" error. Tried 2gb, 4gb, and 8gb memory settings for the client, and 4gb for the server. It didn't make a difference.
I took out the CTcore files then started adding them one at a time (and didn't enable any spawning). I can add some of them and they work, but as soon as I add any single one of the following, the out of memory errors occur again: bushes, plants, trees, xie-compat. I can add alters, blends, CORE, crops, fish, and meat without any problems, sort of. I had "end of stream" issues when trying to log in a couple times, but could eventually get logged in.
I then decided to delete the newdefault folder and just put the CTcore folders in there. I could get almost all of them added without problems until I tried "trees" or "xie-compat", then it was just too much and the memory error came back. I then tried deleting all content and just putting trees & xie-compat in there and that worked. So it just doesn't like it when I have a lot of the content added. I can do parts of it without error. But I don't want just part of CTcore, I want the whole thing. You kind of need it all to avoid having recipes that are missing ingredients, right?
This doesn't really seem to be a problem with the memory setting of the server or the client because cranking them up to 4gb and 8gb doesn't make a difference. Server is Win7 Ultimate 64-bit, client is Win7 Enterprise 64-bit, both of them using 64-bit Java. I might go research the Java errors. Maybe some other mods cause these errors too and somebody knows how to fix it.
I guess I give up for now. Your content pack works great for me single-player but just won't work on my server. With everything enabled, the game only uses about 1500mb of 8000mb memory when I'm dinking around in single player, but when trying to join a server, it just spins out of control and hits about 6.5gb memory used before crashing. I googled the problem with memory but found nothing useful - just people talking about "use 64-bit java, turn graphics to fast instead of fancy, turn down draw distance, allocate more memory to the game, etc". All stuff that I've tried and none of it makes any difference. It's unfortunate, but I'll be okay.
Thank you so much for the error testing that you did, I am going to go over the files "bushes, plants, trees, xie-compat" with a fine tooth comb and see if there is errors of some sort that could be causing the issue. I will hopefully have some kind of answer or at least a test file for you to try soon.
I do want to let you know though... the Core is set to be able to run the part independantly. The recipe files for anything from the "trees" is contained in the trees folder... so if trees is disabled recipes don't have holes in them. The only folders that need to be disabled if specific content isn't added are listed in the OP above:
CTcore-xie-compat : Compatable (this file requires content not bundled with CTCORE *-- file can be disabled without issue--*) Requires: CTcore-CORE and *NewDefault* installed and enabled to function properly
CTcore-blends : Requires: CTcore (all folders/files) installed and enabled to function properly
So if you wanted to run the server with the Core using CORE, crops, fish, meat and alters, no recipes will be missing anything, the Core is built for you to be able to enable/disable many of its individual parts. Only blends and compat require anything other than the CTcore-CORE file to run properly.
I'm still gonna try to get this working for you though perhaps there is a way for me to reduce the memory usage.. *crosses fingers*
Ooh, how 'bout some hanging plants? Not exactly an expansion on farming content, but maybe a small bundle of some hanging flowers would be really cool. More decoration is always good in my books!
I had a few more questions and two problems about your content, if it's not too much trouble.
What is the lighting value for all the lights in your content? It seems that monsters keep spawning, no matter how many lights I put up. Not a lot, but every once in a while, a monster will pop up inside my home. (Only creatures from mods seem to pop up, like scorpions from Mo Creatures. Don't think I've ever seen a vanilla mob pop up where I have lighting, so this may be completely irrelevant.) I saw, in one of your files, something like, 'Lighting Value : 1'. So I tried changing it to 2, but all the lights went out. xD
Secondly, it seems like I can't plant tropical trees anymore. Specifically, the Coconut, Lime, Pineapple, and Banana trees don't plant. The sapling will stay on the dirt for a while, and then disappear. Using fertilizer on them makes them disappear instantly. Any ideas on this one? The Xielog shows up clean, except for the recipe for Valentines Cake Batter (says an ingredient can't be identified, but that's all).
And lastly, the beet picture seems to be off. xD Beet plants show up in my game like this:
It seems like just an issue of the .png file being altered or something, but the picture of the beet plant on that file looks completely normal, so I was at a loss about this one.
Any help at all would be appreciated, yet again!
(Oh, one more question! This probably is more related to Xie Mod then your content, but I'm not sure. Do you know how to harvest Roses? They don't seem to show up in the Creative Mode inventory, and I want to get some to make some stuff from your Valentine's content. I have some rose bushes planted in Creative Mode, but hitting them just cuts the bush back down a stage. So I thought I needed to be in Survival Mode to harvest and get items from crops and such, but the Spawn file in Xie's Mod only shows wild Tomato plants. So, I'm not sure where to find Roses or rose seeds so I can get some roses, if that all makes sense.)
I had a few more questions and two problems about your content, if it's not too much trouble.
-snip
1. Hanging plants: CTdeco contains a flowerbasket that is visually designed to line up with the "chain" so that if placed under a chain connected to a roof it will look like a hanging basket. XD
2. Light value goes from 0.1 to 1, with one being "full light". I also use "mo creatures" and unfortunately mo's creatures will not spawn in "torchlight" specifically (within so many blocks of a placed torch, I don't remember how many specifically) Unfortunately I can't do anything about how that one is coded for spawning.. but playing myself with the mod, to prevent mo's monster spawns where I don't want them and preserving the "look" of the lighting that is in my content.. I bury torches beneath the ground and inside walls for "mo creatures spawn protection" and use my decorative lights in the building itself for actual light and looks XD
3. For the problems with trees, turnips and cake batter, I will need to know what version of Xie's mod you are using, along with which content packs (xie's and mine).. the latest downloads of all my content are linked in this thread, if I remember correctly the valentine batter error comes up be a mismatch of older and newer files.
4. For the roses, unfortunately same deal, I need to know which content packs you are using to let you know why you can't harvest them properly :/
Lemme know all of the Xie content you have loaded and we can get it worked out from there
For Xie Mod, I'm using the July Client (the file is called XieClient_Jul17). I think that's the most recently uploaded and updated one. I'm also using your new default content - the readme.txt starts off with the Taco update for 16th April 2012.
I'm pretty sure I'm using updated versions of CTCore, CTflowers, and CTValentines (I don't want to just replace files yet, since I had to alter several block IDs). I downloaded all the versions you have on this thread to compare to the files I have, and I exchanged the flowers and Valentines one (I was using old versions I think, from May). However, the CTCore files look the same (checked the alters file to compare), so I'm pretty sure I have the version you have on this thread.
Downloading the Valentines folder fixed the issue with cake batter. : ) All jobs resolved successfully. I'm still having trouble with the tropical trees and beets though, not really sure what's going on there. I remember having planted a pineapple tree before I switched from the Core-4096 to the one on this thread, and then coming back to find only a tree trunk. xD Maybe there's some conflict going on with those saplings?
(Also, if this information helps resolve the issue at all, beet plants are transparent if I find them spawning in the world. The pictures still show up, but everything becomes see-through underneath the beet block. So, for example, I can see lava flowing several blocks below. xD Breaking the beet plant causes the transparency to go away).
I can't wait for your next content! A hanging flower pot sounds exactly like what I had in mind. And thanks for the tip of burying torches, and the light values! No wonder the lights kept going out. xD I'm going to go bury some torches around my house!
Edit Oh! I completely forgot to ask in the last post. Did you take some of the blocks out of the Valentine's content? I can't seem to craft a bunch of the stuff (such as a Bear, PinkTiePanda)The wineglass doesn't seem to be placeable, only an item, and I can't find recipes for wine bottles. (Dollies and the Valentinebox work perfectly for me, though).
I don't see any of these items in the .png file in the Valentine's folder, so I'm wondering if they were removed, and the Wiki for CT Boosters hasn't had time for updating yet? xD I keep referencing that site, so maybe I'm looking for a lot of things that aren't suppose to be in the new updates.

Known Bugs:
XD

Q: An item or block is not showing up in game what gives?
A: Typically this is caused by an ID conflict with another mod or content pack. Go to your .minecraft folder and locate "xielog.txt" post the contents of that log here on the forum in spoiler tags:
Q: How do I change block/item IDS?
A: Find the appropriate file in the content that you downloaded that is labeled as a " .xid" open it with a text editor of your choosing and alter the id numbers contained in that file to suit your needs.

EDIT: check back up top.. Valentine updated
And okay, thanks for the explanation. I'm going to try switching out some pictures for the flowers, I really like the alternative orange one.
Thanks again for all your help, Cylan, I really appreciate it!
Glad to have helped, let me know if you find any more bugs, and.. I am always up for more ideas for stuff to add into the farming aspect

I do want to let you know though... the Core is set to be able to run the part independantly. The recipe files for anything from the "trees" is contained in the trees folder... so if trees is disabled recipes don't have holes in them. The only folders that need to be disabled if specific content isn't added are listed in the OP above:
So if you wanted to run the server with the Core using CORE, crops, fish, meat and alters, no recipes will be missing anything, the Core is built for you to be able to enable/disable many of its individual parts. Only blends and compat require anything other than the CTcore-CORE file to run properly.
I'm still gonna try to get this working for you though perhaps there is a way for me to reduce the memory usage.. *crosses fingers*
