GravityCraft got its first official update! You can now save & load layer setups, and use the new directional gravity runes & staffs. Also, plenty of bug fixes.
GravityCraft + MineUp 1.1 is made for MC 1.2.5. A 1.4+ version will come eventually, with added SMP and Forge Support.
The basic gravity Rune grants you the power to control the gravity by yourself. You can switch back to usual or inverted gravity with this item.
Directional Gravity Rune
The directional gravity rune can rotate you in any direction. It determines your new gravity direction by where you look.
Gravity Staff
You can use it either to control the Gravity Directors and Regulators, or to let mobs fly into infinite space.
Directional Gravity Staff
The directional gravity staff can rotate the entity in any direction. It determines its new gravity direction by where you look.
Gravity Director
Once any entity touches this block, it will change it's gravity to the direction the block is pointing at.
Powereing it with redstone will cycle through the directions.
Gravity Regulator
Once any entity touches this block, the strength of the gravity will change. You will fall faster/slower, can jump higher /less high etc.
Powering it with redstone will cycle through the strengths.
Gravity Well
Creates gravity around the block. The range and mode are freely customizable through a gravity staff.
If you power it with redstone, it will deactivate.
Note: You often get placed into blocks when rotating the gravity. Simply walking off the edges of a planet doesn't really work. Make sure you sprint jump off the edges so you won't get caught inside blocks, and switch back and forth between the two planet sides.
Gravity Helmet
Prevents your gravity from being changed. Wear this if you need to work with GravityWells, for example.
The World Layers
When creating a world, you have a fully fledged Gui to customize world generation in layers. For example, you want to be able to dig down into the nether, or build a tower up to the skylands? Or, you want to dig through the world, and come out in an inverted world? No problem!
World
The usual World you spawn in.
Nether
The Nether you usually go to through the portal.
Skylands
The beautiful Skylands Notch once created, and discarded in favor of The End. It's sad, right?
Underground
Imagine the space that would be below the world if the world was just higher. It basically allows you to extend the underground generated between 5-20 to another whole world layer.
Empty
Just an empty world layer if you want some free space.

FAQ
-Help, I'm suddenly getting lag, even though it was fine before! -It's most likely a caching problem. Just change your render distance, and it will reload all the chunks. The performance should be fine then.
-When will version X come out?
When it's done.® Just check my status up above. If it's anywhere close to coming out, I will post it here.
Can I include GravityCraft + MineUp in my mod pack?
Yes, until I add an AdFly link. You must tell me about it before you release it though. Everything else will count as illegal distribution!

The Map Format
GravityCraft maps are (almost) fully compatible maps from the original MineCraft.
Firstly, every Dimension gets its own folder. The main dimension just saves directly into 'region', but all the other Dimension have folders like "Dim-1". The Nether's id is -1, the Ends id is 1, and thus, they correspond to MineCrafts folder names.
Every Dimension has all the Layers set up in new Folders, except the main one. The folders are then called 'layer3', for example. That would be the third layer when flying up.
Loading a vanilla Map into MineUp
If a world without a layer format gets loaded, the standard setup gets applied. If you want a specific layout for your world, you have to edit the 'Default' layers setup before firstly loading the map.
The Seed and similar properties won't get loaded. GravityCraft needed to supply its own World settings structure, and thus, that part is incompatible.
Extracting any Layer as a separate World
You can easily extract the world layers as separate Worlds.
Simply, follow these Steps:
-Create a new World with all the settings you want your world to have
-Exit MineCraft
-Find your Layer inside your old save folder (For example, "My World/region/layer-3".)
-Copy all the files inside that folder (They have names like "r.-1.0.mca")
-Find your new save, and go inside the main region folder (For example, "My Layer -3/region")
-Paste all files, overwriting the old ones
Bringing any World into your new World as a Layer
If you want to combine your worlds as Layers into a MineUp World, simply follow these steps:
-Find your old save, and go inside the main region folder (For example, "My Layer -3/region")
-Copy all the files inside that folder (They have names like "r.-1.0.mca")
-Find your Layer inside your new save folder (For example, "My World/region/layer-3".)
-Paste all files, overwriting the old ones
Sharing World setups
GravityCraft allows you to save your world setups, to load them later. The saved files will be saved in a standard NBT-manner, and are called '.dimension'.
If you want to share a setup, simply move to your minecraft Appdata folder, and then inside 'dimensionSetups'. One file represents a full setup, so you can easily give it to someone else.
The 'Default' setup is special. It is the setup that is loaded whenever nothing else is specified. It will be applied to any new worlds, or when loading vanilla worlds into MineUp.
Developer's Help
GravityCraft adds a Gravity + Dimension API. It uses mostly Adapter Files, and thus, your mod does not become dependent. Yes, you won't need MineUp for your mod to still work, you can fully support it without taking any risks.
If you want to have more API possibilities, and profit from additional methods and variables, you have to mod GravityCraft directly. Simply take a minecraft jar where GravityCraft is properly installed, and use that when decompiling with MCP.
The API is fully commented, so you should be able to understand it by its source files.
Tutorial videos will follow later.
Here's what you can do with it:
-Create new World Layers, with a custom options GUI (optional)
-Create new Dimensions (also during runtime), with any amount of Layers you feel like
-Change the dimension, and create custom entry areas
-Change any entities' gravity, or gravity strength
Mods / Maps / Texture Packs
If you made a mod with added GravityCraft + MineUp support, a map that GC, or a texture pack supporting its items, be sure to send it in. I will list it here then, for you to get quicker recognition.

To play, you must spawn in a gravity director and a gravity staff to change your gravity so you fall sideways (doesnt matter wat direction.) Then, delete the items. Now you can begin! Play minecraft survival normally however, you will always be sideways. Makes for a disorienting challenge
This is looks really nice, time to get out my latest version of mcnostalgia and check it out!
EDIT: does this require modloader? As I get a black screen after installation, made sure to delete meta-inf.
EDIT2: I tried again, with a fresh new 1.2.5 minecraft .jar, the 1.2.5 modloader by risugami didn't work. I'll look into this in a bit, if this post doesn't get quoted, as if you quote me I'll be sure to come back
EDIT3: Must have been mcnostalgia, as 1.2.5 won't load with a fresh .minecraft folder, as it appears as a black screen like the errors above.
EDIT4: Brought up a very, very old backup of mine and used that as my 1.2.5 .minecraft folder (had modloader in it) and I dragged the contents of zip file into .jar and it worked!
Is this compatible with forge yet? In the first couple lines it says SMP and forge support, but in the bugs section it says incompatible with forge and all forge mods...
A bug:
When I play a world with both a "World" layer and an "Underground" layer, I encounter (seemingly) random spawning lava and water, as well as flammable materials bursting into flames (even without nearby lava).
A suggestion:
I would love the capability to disable the generation of the obsidian along the borders of layers (perhaps as a layer setting).

It's not compatible with Forge yet. What I was saying is that I plan to add Forge support once I update to 1.3.1.

I will definitely look into that issue. Thanks for reporting
Yes, it will go on your performance. Not quite double as much, but still, quite a bit. After all, it is multiple fully functional worlds loaded at once
I will definitely look into that issue. Thanks for reporting
I have done further testing! As far as I can tell, the problem only occurs when the bottom layer is either "underground" or "nether" (with different liquid and fire generation depending on which layer is the bottom). As such, for anyone else having this problem, adding an "empty" layer to the bottom of the world you want to generate can fix this problem.
MineUp adds the possibility to fully customize your world Layers, and thus creating a world of theoretically infinite height.
GravityCraft adds the possibility to rotate any entity to stand on walls, and change its gravity strength.

New game type: Sideways Survival!
This game type requires Ivorius's GravityCraft + Mineup mod: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1402701-125-gravitycraft-mineup/
