[Edit: November 10th 2012]
Yes I am done with the mod, I want to focus on another project I am working on. I want to thank all of you who have played it and supporting it. I am making it Open-Source if you want to continue/do something the project. (Download is in the description)
[Edit: November 22th 2012]
The mod is being continued by -Reaper- as Cave-Gen mod 2.0. He has already added a bunch of new stuff, and I have a feeling that he will do a lot more with the mod more than I ever could. So go visit his thread and stop wasting time here.
Mod thread: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1570511-145-cave-gen-mod-20-new-world-type/
What is this? (Mod Info)
Spoiler:
This mod adds a new World Type to the game.

This Cave world will spawn a Giant cave, In this cave everything is a lot harder. Resources are scattered, and there are no Strongholds, Mineshafts, Pyramids, Jungle Temples, or Villages.
There are Biomes, but they are different. They are called Zones. In this current version there are 3 different zones: Rock (the default cave), Snow, and Jungle.

Rock Zone:
---------------------------

The rock zone is the default cave from the previous versions. This is where you can find most of the ores, Abandoned Villages, and Stalactites/Stalagmites used for Shard Lanterns.
These villages are rare to find, they might look like generic buildings, but they hold a secret.

In this cave you might have notice these:

These are stalagmites and stalactites. While also adding to the atmosphere of the cave, you can also break them with your fists to get some shards! (Magic glowing shards )

If you get 4 shards and put them into the crafting bench, you get a shard lantern! (I couldn't think of a better name :|)

These blocks shine, and they make for cool decoration in you underground hut.
At the bottom of the cave you can sometimes find a abandoned shack. This is a good source for planks, dirt, and the only way to find gravel.

Shacks contain minor loot; from a wooden sword to melon seeds.

Ores now spawn differently as well. Instead of being based on height, any ore can spawn at any level and they no longer spawn in veins. They are now spread out throught the cave one ore at a time, but since they're all over the place it shouldn't be too hard right?
Well each ore now has a percent chance of spawning; from coal being the most common, to the useless emeralds being the rarest. Here is a chart to show the rarity:

I've suprising seen a fair amount of diamonds in my travels, but never had the iron to actually dig it up. That and I always died from the countless amount of mobs.
Snow Zone:
----------------------------------

This Zone is made out of Snow Blocks, There is little to no wood here. Shacks have a very very very little chance of spawning here, Ores are buried deep in the snow, and water pools are frozen into ice.
The only reason I would come to this zone is to find the Super Dungeon.
(fun fact: I made this as a seperate mod a long time ago and I thought it was too hard to release it. )

The super dungeon is a Bigger and Harder version of the normal dungeon. It has 4 spawners which all can be randomly chosen from Zombies, Skeletons, Spiders, and creepers.
The loot is similar, but with a few additions like more records, Bottles of enchanting, or ender pearls.

On the ceiling you might find some Icicles:

These icicles can be crafted into ice,

Jungle Zone:
---------------------------------

Jungle is the last of the three zones, It is filled with a new block called Moss stone. It is mined faster than stone and it has a 1/6 chance of returning back as moss stone, else it just returns as cobblestone.
This zone does not spawn ores at all. But it does spawn a lot of wood. There are giant logs all over the place, each going up 100 blocks with 12 blocks in each layer (that is 1200 blocks of wood per log!), these logs also have a chance (but rare) of having cocoa beans on them.
There are no lava lakes at all here, and the water pools are filled with lots of clay. The dungeons here also...
wait I forgot about dungeons:
Minor Changes in 1.3:
---------------------------------------
*Villagers have a 25% chance of spawning with a shack.
*It is now possible to get to the end.
*Stalagmites/Stalactites can be placed anywhere now like a normal block
*All blocks in the mod are added into the creative inventory
*Added custom Id's through a text file called "CaveGenIds" that comes with the client download, put it in your .minecraft folder. This is not nessary to have, but it is reccommended.

Dungeons are now a bit different in this version depending on what zone they are in.

If they are in the rock zone they are filled with cobblestone, in jungle zones they are filled with mossycobblestone, in snow biomes they are filled with a brick called Snow Brick (which are made with 4 snow blocks in a square).

In jungle dungeons you can find mushrooms.
