Me and my brother are on the same internet connection and I decided to open up my world to him. Whenever he goes to the multiplayer list, though, it simply says "Scanning for LAN servers" infinitely and never allows him to see my server. Is it because we're on a wireless connection? We both have legitimate accounts so that can't be the issue

Edit: Yes, I tried giving him the IP given to me. He still couldnt connect

I think so, I can't connect, and we use wi-fi, Help would be nice.

There is a server folder there, but I think it doesnt run until you hit "Open to LAN"

I've got the same problem and it's very disturbing! I've waited for the 1.3 update just to play with my brother and still it doesn't work! I really hope that they will fix it soon!

I don't know... I'm not very good at computer-things... I just know that I share the same wi-fi as my brother.

I'm glad I'm not the only one with this issue. I don't see how I'm doing anything wrong: I clicked open to LAN and tried to connect one legit account to another so I could play with someone. Very disappointing, this feature was promised on the wiki! :(

I'm beginning to think that a wireless connection may be the issue......You may need a cable.

Just checked mine. I don't have it. That must have been the snapshot only. The server files may be mixed with the client files for LAN.

It's LAN connection. You can't connect to me unless I'm on the same connection as you. You're thinking of a normal server, which works just fine for me. It's just when I try to host the new LAN servers.

Make sure you let it through in the firewall. When starting a LAN server for the first time you should've gotten a prompt asking something about the firewall.

Minecraft has been in my firewall for a long time, and I never got a prompt, so I assume it's through.

6crazy, that's your local IP. Only people on the same internet connection can connect to your local IP. LAN stands for Local Area Network. If you wanna connect with people that aren't on your connection, you still need to portforward and host a server and all that.
