CUBIC HORRORS
A CTM map series inspired by Vechs' Super Hostile series
I have recently decided that I would like to create CTM maps. I have one that is complete. This map is an underground/hell themed CTM map, and it is intended to be ROM-Hack hard. The map is called: "The Fire Beneath". And please remember that this map is designed with many devilish moves on my part, only play it if you are an experienced CTM player.
If you are not an experienced CTM player, I would suggest checking out Vechs' thread: http://www.minecraft...hostile-series/
Or the CTM Community thread, where you can find other CTM maps: http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding/maps/maps-discussion/1564860-ctm-the-ultimate-ctm-community-thread
Difficulty Ratings:
Cakewalk: Almost too easy. A little more challenging than regular survival, and good for new CTM players.
Easy: A step up from cakewalk, and still bearable for new players. Loot is plentiful while mobs aren't overwhelming.
Medium: Average difficulty. A fair balance between mobs and loot, while still being challenging.
Hard: On the verge of unfair. Expect devious traps and tough situations. Only play if you are experienced in CTM.
Cruel: The equivalent of ROM-Hack Hard. Almost impossible, only the best of the best can complete it.
Impossible: Do you even dare to try?
Map #01: The Fire Beneath
Style: Linear Branching
Breif Description:
Finding yourself at the gates of hell, you must explore a hellish series of caverns in a desparate attempt to find the wool and metal blocks. Will you beat the odds and conquer these ghastly caverns? Or will you burn in an endless fire?
Difficulty: Cruel
Pictures:
Map #02: Bedrock Mines (WIP)
Style: Linear-Branching
Brief Description: An ancient civilization found a way to unearth the bedrock. Can you explore their ruins and find the missing wool? Or will you be overwhelmed by the overgrown monsters lurking deep beneath the surface?
Difficulty: Cruel

Any feedback you have would be greatly appreciated.

OH MY GHAST this is an amazing map. I'm an Eggplant, so I have trouble playing (ragequit several times) but creatures with opposable thumbs and decent skill will love this.
UPDATE: I have added some more spawners and traps to the map. Enjoy!
Well, I must say the map was fun until I got to fear of falling, and then it turned into just a bumble**** of spawners, blaze/ghast.
Remember, This is what makes your maps so great; you're not a douche. Balance is very important, and lots of map makers seem to neglect this when trying to capture the Super Hostile essence.

I designed the "Fear of Falling" area to be run through, instead of the average 'take it slow, carefully remove spawners' play style. It is a lot more fun when you run through it, a real adrenaline rush. Sure it's hard but you've been warned:

Maybe I should leave signs telling the player how I intend the player to run through it, and maybe add a chest with some speed potions. I apologize for the disappointment.

No, not disappointed, I think it is a cool idea, I think that it is just really easy to get knocked off from all of the skeles, blazes, ghasts, even when you are sprinting through it. I guess if your a Pro CTM player you can have balance level 100 and levitate on those bridges

I had designed the area with the hope that I could knock off even the best of parkourists. I guess it's done it's job.
Right off the bat I was in noclip and was set to a fast speed... a quick /reset and /setspawn fixed it but I thought you should know.
So far the map is very hard, although that may just be because I am awful at CTM. but the terrain is cool, the dungeons are hard, and it's pretty addicting while staying rage-quit worthy. I probably won't finish this because I'm terrible at it, but I can safely assure you that this map is looking very good so far.

You aren't using the 1.3 pre-release, are you? If you were, you wouldn't be able to use those commands, as SPC hasn't been released for 1.3 yet. This map is supposed to be played in 1.3, and you should be fine if you use it.
And thanks for the feedback. It's nice to know that it is difficult.

Yeah that happened to me as well, as I don't want to update to 1.3 yet, easy fix though.
If you want to change that just delete the spc.commands or whatever file from the download. It will fix it.

UPDATE: Fixed a problem with the spawn. It shouldn't have been a problem if you had used the pre-release like I had said to do, but it would've become a problem later on anyways, so I fixed it.

Thanks! I thought those areas turned out quite well.
What happens if you play it in 1.3? Will it just not work?
Also, it looks very interesting, I wish I had time to play a good CTM map right now.
it will work when 1.3 is officially out, I just don't want people to play it on 1.2.
