Permission denied

Hi guys,

i installed the minecraft server and it works but i get a message like: ./world/tmp_chunk.dat (Permission denied). How i can fix this ? because i can't find this file...

Ps: My os is Ubuntu 10.04 LTS

This means the permissions for the /world folder are set to a user higher then yours.  You just have to change the permissions so that you can access the folder.

But what for a permission is ok for this folder ? i think 777 is not ok...

You could try permissions 666

I have give this folder just read and it works fine thanx :Zombie:.. but now i get an another little problem if i go to logging i get took to long to loging message. I don't know where is the problem

I would try 0644 instead of 0666.

The error message "Took too long to login." is usually due to minecraft.net being slow or down.

Ahrgh this sucks really bad :D... why is minecraft.net so slow ? I can not even play normally without server

Thanx. I have an another question if i started my server and when i close putty, how i can stop the server for next time to loggin ?

Lol... That made little sense.. so let me see if I understood any of that...

Guess 1:
You close putty and your server stops, keeping you from running minecraft without the term window open.

Answer 1:
Download a utility like 'screen' that allows you to create a virtual display that will run in the background allowing you to close your term and keep your server running.

Guess 2:
You closed putty, now you can't get back to the console to shutdown minecraft.

Answer 2:
Depends on how you are keeping that running, but you could find the java process using something like 'ps -aux' and then kill the pid for minecraft... that's if you can't get to the console... if you are using screen, 'screen -s' should re-attach you... All of this is dependent on how you are doing that, if that is the case.
