Hello, I'm currently trying to set up a minecraft server, but my friend cant connect.. It just hangs at connecting.

I've forwarded port 25565, I've added it to both Windows firewall and avast as exception, but nothing changes.

I'm out of ideas and dont really know what to do, any tips?

Check his firewall too. Make sure his connections to other servers are allowed.

Just to make sure, your 'Friend' can connect to other servers just fine right?

If so then it's your issue, turn off the firewall and try again. Check your ports and make sure both ip's are the same.

Avast doesn't really need a exception i don't believe so since i use it as-well.

I had a problem similar to this and what i had to do is give my friends my external ip because i was giving them an internal ip.... so they could on connect on a local area... also u have to update the external ip every few days unless you set it static because it changes when your isp assigns you a new ip.
