Lightning Lords - a new mob idea.

A Lightning Lord would appear riding a small cloud. When the player gets close, the Lightning Lord tries to hover directly above them. Eventually he'll stop, the player will hear the sound of electricity charging and after a while a streak of lightning would come from the cloud straight down. The lightning bolt leaves a 1*1*1 crater behind - the space in this crater is on fire. Lightning bolts go straight through leaves, setting them on fire.
When a Lightning Lord is killed (preferably with arrows), it's cloud remains. A player may be able to jump into the cloud and ride it for a moment. Movement in a cloud is much faster than on land, but because the player is heavier than a Lightning Lord the cloud slowly goes down. When it touches the ground the cloud disappears. The player can also jump out of the cloud at will.
Lightning Lords will only appear up near mountain areas. Floating maps will be swarming with them.
C+C is nice.
EDIT: It's spoils would be a feather/gunpowder, as well as it's cloud.

First his design, in pixelated glory:
You probably can't tell, but I designed this guy like the default player, except in super pissed off mode. After all, if lots more mobs get added we're going to need some more humanoid ones.
Secondly, I thought he could be a dangerous daytime mob. Now before you moan, remember that this guy is only really going to attack you if you're high up, so unless you like building huge towers you're not going to see much of him. Besides, it'd be easier to see him during the day, which means you won't be randomly flinging arrows up in the air. Being a daytime mob he disappears during the night.

This sounds perfectly hilarious.
I'd love to see this in the game, also because it would be a source of fire.
Also I think we should be able to harvest the cloud block to be able to make ANTI-GRAVITY MINECARTS.
This should be incredibly rare though, you'd be ridiculously overpowered if you are able to get on the cloud indefinitely.

Then you could pick it up, go to the top of a mountain, and glide down.

Also I don't usually play this card, but it's not even remotely realistic.
Clouds would be like balloons, yes? Imagine firing a cannon on a hot air balloon.
I think you'll understand why I'm against it.
Sometimes it's nice to take acceptable breaks from realism, but this is just physics, here.
It's the most basic thing.
DO YOU REALLY WANT MINECRAFT TO BREAK THE IMMERSION COMPLETELY?

Cannons are a good idea, yes, but NOT when you want them attached to bloody everything in the game. Get over it. Cannons, if any, will be land-based at very most.

I like it but I don't like the idea of the cloud-rider being a humanoid...or at least not a normal sized one. Maybe a mini person? Or a bird that's like "carrying" the cloud?

Hope OP doesn't mind me posting a pic of an additional design.
Spore critter I made a while back (shameless self advertising), outlandish enough to lose the humanoid aspect of it, not sure how something like that would convey to blocks though.

I think I might work on a design for a lightning lord, because on second thought, they could be mechanical, and they could also be a source of gears/gear molds.
