Posted Image (PLEASE DO NOT give me any more suggestions to add things from the Minecraft 2.0 joke, any other joke by Mojang, or features from Pocket Edition. I WILL ignore them. Trust me, I have seen them all, and I won't be adding any of those features any time soon. I just want to get the REAL ideas implemented first.)Posted Image

HELLO people! Welcome to the Rediscovered Mod! The purpose of this modification is to add in anything that has been unused, unimplemented, or removed from Minecraft's files! It covers a wide variety of topics that could have made it into the vanilla game but sadly, did not. In fact, that is one of my goals for this mod! To possibly see some of these features added into the vanilla game!

*Keep in mind that even though I am a strong believer in the "originalness" of everything in Minecraft, I will let my creativity flow with certain purposes of items that wouldn't normally have a purpose (an example of this being pigman villages spawning in the sky dimension). This is to add more fun to the mod itself and give players a reason to do things in it.

Now then, on to the fun!

Features:

Crying Obsidian

Crying Obsidian is here! This evil stone has the look of obsidian and lapis lazuli mixed together.

Why is it in this mod?
It was previously an unused sprite in Minecraft's files before it was removed. Click here to learn more about it's history!

What does it do?
Nothing at the moment!

Why should I care?
Cause it looks awesome!

Useful Sponges

Finally what we've all been waiting for! A use for sponges! These things now suck up water within a 5x5 area! They also generate at the bottom of oceans so that they are available in survival.

Why is it in this mod?
It was previously in Minecraft's files before it was removed. Click here to learn more about it's history!

What does it do?
Deletes all water blocks (source and flowing) within a 5x5 area.

Why should I care?
It can be really useful for making awesome underwater bases!

Quiver and Leather-Chain Armor

Yes the little hidden sprites are back and ready to go! The quiver gives the person wearing it the ultimate power: the power to instantly fire an arrow without having to charge the bow. The Leather Chain armor is crafted from leather armor and chain-mail armor together (I highly suggest trading with the pigmen to get that Chain-mail armor)

Why is it in this mod?
The quiver is an unused sprite in Minecraft’s files, and the leather-chain armor was a group of unused sprites. Click here to learn more about the quiver's history here to learn more about the Leather-Chain armor.

What does it do?
The quiver allows the player to instantly fire a critical arrow without having to charge the bow when worn in the chestpiece armor slot, while the leather-chain armor is if you want some protection of both leather and chain-mail armor.

NOTE: To wear armor with the quiver, you must craft a quiver with the chestplate of your choice. This provides protection and gives the power of the quiver! However, this is a TEMPORARY solution. I will add a better method for wearing the quiver soon.

Why should I care?
The quiver can be really useful during epic battles. And it looks AWESOME!

Gear

These things are back from the indev days! They can be placed on walls and floors and can be useful in redstone circuitry!

Why is it in this mod?
It was unused and then removed from Minecraft’s files. Click here to learn more about it's history!

What does it do?
Provides a redstone current and can be used as a type of vertical redstone*!

*EDIT: Can not be used as vertical redstone as of v. 0.35. So sorry but had to be removed due to some issues. I am working on it!

Why should I care?
It can compact your redstone machinery even further with the ability to send a signal straight up!*

*Not quite yet

Lantern

This is the idea that Notch came up with that everyone hated! However, I believe that this mod can improve upon the general idea.

Why is it in this mod?
It was an idea that Notch came up with that was never implemented into the game. Click here to learn more about it's history!

What does it do?
Not only can it be placed to provide light, but it can also provide portable light! If the player has the lantern in his or her hotbar, they will find that they will light up the surrounding area wherever they go!

Why should I care?
It can be really useful while cave exploring. Instead of constantly having to switch to a torch and place it and then move on, all one needs to do is have the lantern!

Dirt Slabs

These are the original slabs! They were used by Notch while he was testing how slabs would work.

Why is it in this mod?
It has been removed from Minecraft’s files. Click here to learn more about it's history!

What does it do?
It is purely aesthetic.

Why should I care?
It can help in those awkward time when you break your thumb and can’t hit the spacebar to jump! Then again you can just switch the controls… nevermind.

Smooth Full Half-Slabs

These are hidden in the darkest reaches of Minecraft’s code.

Why is it in this mod?
It is unused. Click here to see a pic of it in the gallery!

What does it do?
They are purely aesthetic.

Why should I care?
Maybe your home needs something to spice it up!

Tables and Chairs and Lecterns

FINALLY! a sit-able block that we can actually use instead of stairs and an actual table! When right-clicked the player will sit down on the chair in a similar fashion to sitting in a minecart.

Why is it in this mod?
The chair and table sprites used to be in indev's files and has been removed since then. Click here to learn more about their history! Lecterns were made by Dinnerbone but never added. Click here to learn more about it's history!

What does it do?
Allows one to sit properly and LIKE A SIR in their house. The lectern opens the book when right clicked.

Why should I care?
You finally don't have to use those ugly stairs as makeshift seats in your house!

Locked Chest and Spikes

These are the April Fool’s joke of Minecraft! The locked chests were added by Notch in April of 2011 and then removed shortly after. Spikes were thought of being added but never were.

Why is it in this mod?
Locked chests were removed from Minecraft’s files and Spikes were unimplemented. Click here to learn more about it's history! Spikes were going to be made instead of sticky pistons and would be attached to regular pistons. Click here to learn about it's history.

What does it do?
With the locked chest, find out for yourself. With the spikes they hurt when you touch it for twice as much damage as cactus.

Why should I care?
It is an AMAZING prank.

NOTE: Prank more effective in multiplayer. I do plan on adding multiplayer support at a later time.

New potions

These potions are based off of the effects that you can get through NBT world editing, but not legit. There are 5 new types: Nausea, Water Breathing, Mining Slowness, Blindness, and Jumping.*

Why is it in this mod?
They are in the code but are in no way obtainable

What does it do?
They give the player the effects that are in the name of each potion

Why should I care?
You can breathe underwater! Feel sick! Mine stuff really slow! Jump high! and even go blind!

NOTE: I realize that they should be made in the brewing stand, however as of now there is no way to do that in Forge without editing base files, which no one wants. Don't worry though! I will have a solution for this soon!

*Made with awkward potions.

Pigmen Villages, Rubies, and Green Testificates

Pigmen are here! These little fellas are a lot like testificates but offer much better trades... With rubies! These gems were supposed to be used to trade with testificates, but Jeb decided to use emeralds instead. They can be found in ores level 45 and below and can be crafted into a Block of Ruby when you fill all the spaces in the crafting grid. You can find a whole village of these fellas randomly throughout the Sky Dimension. As for the green villager, he has been captured by the Pigmen and is now their prisoner! He can be found in the jail within a Pigmen village.

Why is it in this mod?
Rubies were replaced by emeralds, pigmen have been planned on being added to villages, but never were, and green testificates have a texture but don't actually spawn. To learn about pigmen, go here.
To learn about Rubies and Ruby Ores, go here.
To learn about green testificates, go here.

What does it do?
Pigmen can provide actually fair trades by asking for rubies, which are much easier to obtain than emeralds.

Why should I care?
You can run the testificate economy into the ground by trading with pigmen instead! Also, the pigmen villages have a couple of chests with some pretty nice loot. Try to get to it all before getting attacked by the armed pigmen soldiers and Black Steve/Beast Boy!

Fish Mob

This is the fish! No, not that thing that comes out of nowhere when you pull a fishing rod out of water. This is an actual mob that Notch was planning on adding in the Halloween Update, but never got around to it.

Why is it in this mod?
They has been thought of being added, but never was. Click here to learn more about the fish's history.

What does it do?
The fish drops... well, fish when killed! It also naturally spawns anywhere where a large enough body of water is present.

Why should I care?
It provides more to the ambiance part of Minecraft.

Pics:

Lost Mobs

These are the Lost mobs of indev! They were added by Dock, who used to work for Mojang, using MD3 modeling*, but were removed when he left. Originally, none of them had moving animations (the animation code was unused so they sort of ice skated all over the place), but thanks to Exalm, he was able to have the moving animations work again! Rana and Steve spawn once per testificate village, while Black Steve and Beast Boy each spawn once per Pigman Village and are initially hostile.

*Also, a HUGE thanks to Exalm for the original MD3 models and getting them to work in modern Minecraft Posted Image

Why is it in this mod?
They has been removed from Minecraft’s files. Click here to learn more about Rana’s history, or click here to learn about Steve's history. Click here to learn about Black Steve and here to learn about Beast Boy.

What does it do?
Rana drops 0-2 apples when killed (Why would you do such a thing? D: )

Steve, Black Steve, and Beast Boy drops one of the following:
String (1-2) on death. (Most common)
Feather (1-2) on death.
Gunpowder (1-2) on death.
Flint and Steel (?) on death. (Extremely rarely)

Why should I care?
Rana can provide company on those lonely evenings in Minecraft while Steve can protect you from the dangers of the night, and Black Steve and Beast Boy are the protectors of the Pigman Villages in the Sky Dimension.

Giants And Undead Horses

They’re ginormous! The giants have been in the code but do not spawn naturally. In this mod, they now spawn naturally in the Sky Dimension and have a spawn egg. The undead horses (Skeleton and Zombie) now spawn in the wild at night, are hostile, and have a spawn egg

Why is it in this mod?
They all have been unused in Minecraft’s files. Click here to learn more about Giants and here to learn more about the undead horses!

What does it do?
They naturally spawn and are hostile. The giants drop 0-2 normal gold apples upon death AND will rarely drop either a 'Notch' apple (the newish gold apple that takes gold blocks to make), a gold ingot, or even a diamond! The horses drop rotten flesh and leather or bones depending on the type.

Why should I care?
They can pose as a tough challenge and provide a sweet reward for defeating them.

Sky Dimension and Red Dragons

The opposite of the Nether! Yes this dimension is almost like a dream filled with floating islands, a never-ending daytime, giants, red dragons and A SECRET Posted Image! To get to the dream, you must craft the mysterious "Dream Bed" which causes you to have wild dreams when you sleep in it. You will wake up in a house, but not YOUR house... You step outside to see a whole new world to explore, filled with Giants, Red dragons, and Pigmen VIllages! Just use the dream bed in the house to wake up in the normal world.

Why is it in this mod?
The Sky Dimension has been unimplemented, then unused, then replaced by The End, and then removed from the files… twice. The red dragons were mentioned multiple times but never actually implemented. Click here to learn more about the Sky Dimension and here to learn more about the red dragon.

What does it do?
It provides a new dimension to explore and have fun with. It has many dream-like qualities. You will wake up in a house, but not YOUR house... You step outside to see a whole new world to explore! Giants naturally spawn here so make sure to come prepared if you are looking for a fight! Red dragons also spawn naturally but VERY RARELY and drop one Red Dragon Egg and some Crying Obsidian when killed. Pigmen VIllages can be found throughout. Just use the dream bed in the house to wake up in the normal world.

Why should I care?
Impossibru Giants! Epic Red Dragons! Pigmen Villages! And some cool terrain too.

Hey those are some pretty good ideas. I have thought of pigmen, rubies, the music disk, and the far lands and I plan on adding those eventually (Just as soon as I have everything else fully functioning Posted Image ) but Those other things like the Far Lands and loops I haven't! I'm definitely adding that to my to-do list. Also, loops could be pretty sweet and a banner could be great! If you want to make one just post it here or PM me and I'll put it in the main article under "Banners" Posted Image

At this point in time I do not have any plans to make sponges absorb lava. Sorry. That was not their original purpose so I don't think it would be right to put it in the mod. Call me a vanillaist :/ Cool idea though!

P.S. To everyone I have made a Forge-compatible version. Download is in post. Previously both this mod and Forge had overwritten the same base class but this Forge-compatible version should fix that.
