Hello fellow MineCrafters!

Today I am bringing you a tutorial on how to build a small house which looks great and it doesn't cost a fortune resource wise to make!

What you are going to need:

136 cobblestone
94 Sandstone slabs
30 Sandstone stairs
60 Oak planks
12 Oak logs
8 Birch planks
13 Glass blocks
1 Door
1 Trapdoor
4 Ladders
6 Torches

Optional:
1 Furnance
1 Workbench
1 Bed
6 Chests

How to build the house

Step 1.
Posted Image
Dig a 8 x 7 x 6 hole. Thats 8 Long, 7 Wide and 6 Deep.

Step2.
Posted Image
Build a cobblestone wall inside the hole next to the walls and fill the floor with oak planks.

Step 3.
Posted Image
On the long sides of the wall make a 2x1 hole and on the short sides a 1x1 hole where all the holes should have cobblestone behind them.

Step 4.
Posted Image
Place cobblestone at the top of the walls like the picture shows.

Step 5.
Posted Image
Place the birch planks like the picture shows.

Step 6.
Posted Image
Place glass between all of the birch blocks.

Step 7.
Posted Image
Place another layer of cobblestone on top of the birch and glass.

Step 8.
Posted Image
Place the oak logs at the corners.

Step 9.
Posted Image
Fill the top layer of the hole with oak planks and leave a hole in the corner.

Step 10.
Posted Image
Place the trapdoor on the cobblestone below the birch plank and build a ladder down to the basement.

Step 11.
Posted Image
Add a door so that no meanies can enter your lovely home while you sleep! :)

Step 12.
Posted Image
Build the roof by placing the sandstone stairs on the top layer of cobblestone and add sandstone slabs in the corners.

Step 13.
Posted Image
Place a layer of sandstone slabs on the top layer of cobblestone and fill out the rest of the roof.

Step 14.
Posted Image
Place sandstone slabs around your house like shown in the picture and create a 3x2x1 hole in front of the door which you fill with cobblestone.

Step 15. (optional)
Posted Image
Place torches in the holes you made before and place the furnace, workbench and chests as shown in the picture.

Step 16. (optional)
Place a bed in the corner or wherever you want to place it, and place whatever other items you wish here! :)

And you are done! :D

The best thing about this house is that you can use any type of wood you want! :)
I prefer to use 2 different types of wood, as the walls and the floor get different appearances.

And here are some pictures of combinations that are different from the oak log/ birch plank combo that I used in the tutorial.

Damn, this is a really good house! It's a good starter base, or at least an outpost where you can stay the night. The tutorial is done well, and I would really like to see some more of this!

This is a nice house. Looks good. Functional. Practical to build with limited resources. I like that you started with the foundation, so often overlooked on the Minecraft videos I watch. It's certainly far better than what I started with.

That is a nice, easily buildable house. I just recommend you post pictures of it in the default pack too

Built using a 64x64 default style pack. Running 1.2.5 so don't have sandstone steps, replaced with just stone.
Spoiler:

Nice design.
