I really want to get rid of my minecraft skin, and make it so it is as if I never installed one. I don't want to make the default my Minecraft skin, I just want to make it as if I never installed a skin and any texture packs I download still change my Minecraft skin. Is there a way to do so?

This post doesn't make any sense.  Texture packs have nothing to do with your skin, and the "default skin" is exactly what you would have if you "never installed one".  I think you are confused.

No, I can confirm that texture packs can change your skin if you don't have one (for instance, if you're offline.)  Maybe upload the Texture Pack's skin as your skin?

You read the OP, right?  That would do exactly the opposite of what they want.

What I gathered is that he doesn't want texture packs to change his skin, and some texture packs have a new skin that comes with it. It's named char, and it replaces your default skin.

No, (s)he wants to have no skin uploaded to minecraft.net so that texture packs can change the default skin.

oh, now I see. Then what you want to do is to go to minecraft.net, log in, and go to profile, and click "start by downloading the reference skin". You should get the default skin back.

Doesn't that just download the default skin? You would have to set that as your skin then.

Just upload the skin that you want your minecraft character to be (from the texture pack) to minecraft.net.

What "skin" are you talking about?

If it's the player skin:
1. Delete the file.
2. Log onto Minecraft website and click "Profile"
3. Then, click "download the reference skin"

If Texture Pack:
1. Go to the folder "%AppData%"
2. Go to folder ".minecraft"
3. Go to folder "Textures" or "Texture Packs"
4. Delete the unwanted Texture pack

Hope that helps :D

I got this to work, but i'm not sure how i did it. What i do know is that you need to download the reference skin (char.png), and I saw that it changed when I changed texture packs. (it was on my desktop so I could see). I then uploaded that skin, and it worked perfectly online. Hope this helps.

Ok I got it now, you download the char.png from minecraft.net, upload that as your skin, and then delete the char.png file, and your skin should change with texture packs online.*EDIT*: For some reason, you have to download the reference skin (best to your desktop), and then delete it every time you open up your minecraft launcher, but that should solve your problem. I think the reason this works is because it uploads your skin, and when you delete it you have no skin, so it uses the default, so I think you can use any other skin to upload and delete, but using the reference skin is probably easiest.*EDIT* For some reason, I couldn't get it to work, but found out this way:

1.drag the char.png from .minecraft/bin/.minecraft/mob/char.png to desktop (twice maybe)
2.upload the char.png on the desktop
3. Delete desktop char.png
4.Enjoy!  (Sorry, you have to do this every time after you close the launcher DX)

Getting this to work is a bit crazy and unpredictable XD, the easiest way is to just buy a separate premium account and just never upload any skin XD

Sorry, but its really hard to find out how to do this, because a method will seem to work, but only once, so Its very unreliable. Another method is to take the char.png from the your .minecraft and import it in MCskin3D, and then upload it (i'm not sure if this will work, again, the easy way is just to buy a separate account or just pray that mojang makes a "clear skin" button on the profile page :3)

Ok for those who are lost, this is the root problem.   Minecraft checks with a profile server whenever you login.  If it detects an uploaded skin, it'll use that on yourself in SP and MP, overriding the default skin. If your using a texture pack, you can override the default skin, but you CAN'T override an uploaded skin since its one level higher in the selection chain.

Unfortunately the MC site doesn't have the option to remove the skin, and uploading the reference skin is the same as having an custom skin, since its "there".   This has been asked for constantly, but I have no idea why this option has never been implimented.   Hopefully Tobias, Leo or Kris (don't know who's in charge of the website development) can add a remove skin option for the profile page.
