Whenever I try to enter a server I immediately get kicked and an error saying that my string is too long appears. I don't understand how to fix this error.

This problem started yesterday, but before then everything was working fine...what should I do?

I haven't added any mods. I have mods, but they were around a while before this error started popping up.

Still, make a back-up of your .minecraft folder and then start from scratch. Best way to start is to know it happens with vanilla Minecraft.

Force update your Minecraft.
This usually happens when you try to join a server with a version greater than yours.
