was it ? , the only way to get 50 was to spend lots of time grinding at a mob system. Not exactly my idea of fun. 30 is reachable without grinding ( although maybe hard) so its more of a balanced number
You think 50 was fine? I think it was kind of ridiculous too. From the wiki:
To reach level 50, which is the amount of skill points required to purchase the highest type of enchantment, one would need to gather 4625 experience by defeating 925 hostile mobs
It seems like emerald ore gives experience now, about the same amount as experience potions.
Yeah, and if you were reading just about every single other comment on this news post, so does every other block that drops an item instead of a block (coal, redstone, lapis lazuli, diamond, emerald, and glowstone, with a chance of leaves and gravel, I might be missing some).
EDIT: I also remembered that pumpkins and melons might do this, I think; they drop seeds. Also, maybe wheat, long grass, or sugar cane, but those are transparent and walkthrough blocks
"Added cobblestone and stonebrick monster eggs to the creative inventory"
What does this mean? I dont see any new eggs.
The blocks that are in strongholds that have silverfish burrowed into them are now placeable.
So after you place it, when someone mines it, a silverfish will spawn from it.
I like that Jeb and the Mojang squad are pushing headlong to 1.3, but I am going to skip this snapshot I think. The ".jar file" juggling is getting to be a bit too much for me because I love playing on my SMP, and I know I'll botch something up. I'm going to wait for 1.3, let the younger and more brave test this one, good luck guys!

Well...just saying...Gamemode 2 (Adventure Mode) makes it to where you cannot place blocks...AT ALL. So no one could grief or even build for that matter. As a matter of fact, I turned on AM just to see what it was like, and you just swing your arms. It's not like bedrock with the infinite mining animation. It's like clicking the LMB.

This is perfect for servers that don't want players destroy all of your hard work (grief).

BUG: Whenever you press "F" the chunks are reloaded, really annoying for ppl who use "F" to sneak!
I liked the 50 enchanting...I think it should be fairly hard to get to. Especially if (like the server I run) you get XP from mining and such.
Inb4 Vechs maps get even more rage inducing.
(Also, I'm curious to see how different is the enchantment system now! Hopefully less frustrating!)
