Hi guys,
Before I go into what my problem is, I have looked around and can't seem to find a solution.
The Problem: I have and ActionTec Qwest Q1000 router and a Bukkit server setup on a barebones (with the exception of a java installation of course) Xubuntu 12.04 LTS machine. The machine runs the server just fine, and I have tested the server to make sure it works. My friends and I can play on the server over LAN, but I can't seem to get the router to port-foreward correctly :/ or something else is amiss.
I have setup port-forwarding on port 25565 with the TCP protocol. The server binds to the port fine, but no one can ping the server via the internet. Which defeats the purpose of an online server. So I was wondering if there was a specific thing I have missed in order to make it so people online can play on my Bukkit server.
Any help is appreciated!
P.S. I will not be calling CenturyLink just for them to tell me something stupid like I need to disable NAT or something, also so that then I don't have to pay them $30 for them just to tell me that
If they cant ping it they cant reach the server, are you sure your giving them the right ip.
Yes, I have been getting my IP via the router's tools and info.
I have found a site that tells you how to setup port-forwarding for certain games with certain routers, and I'm going to try their way and I'll tell you how it fairs.
This may not be even relavent, but do I need to open the port in linux?
EDIT: I have checked and the port is open in linux.
Ok guys, I got it to work!
It turns out that the server was available, it's was just that I was trying to test the port while on the same network. I finally got it to work by using this http://www.canyouseeme.org/

Here's their PDF directly from their website on configuring the firewall: http://qwest.centurylink.com/internethelp/modems/q1000/pdf/qaq002/Q1000_FIREWALL_02.pdf
