Hello there,

Sometimes when I play on a SMP server there is a lot of chatting going on and sometimes it takes up a lot of space on the screen and it´s annoying.

So is there a mod for turning off the chat or is it possible to make one?

Maybe I´m the only one that thinks the chat can be annoying?

I'd second this as sometimes there are times when you don't want people reading what is chat.  Like say if you have young kids who are playing the game.

Yea I need this aswell!

I dont want chat completely off, I just want a mod that can decrease the size of the font in chat.
so it doesnt take up so much room. but still be able to see what being said ingame.

The link below is to an outdated chat mod, But it doesnt have that feature but I think it could be easily implemented.

Anyway, If you don't have any actual helpfull input for this topic dont bother posting.

Reason why im asking is because I do play with friends on SMP and we use voice chat communication so we dont need chat.

Yeah it's really hard when you have younger children who are smart enough to read and people are cursing like sailors in chat.  May daughters like to watch me play some times, and I don't feel it's right for me to ask those on the server to tone down there language.

Would be nice to simply be able to toggle chat on or off somehow.

This game is great for kids, but there's no way I'm letting my daughters play on a server without some sort of profanity filter or a way to disable chat entirely.

And before you say Single Player Mode, it would be nice if I could build some things with my kids.  They love playing and building blocks IRL with me and want a chance @ doing so in Minecraft.  

Another incoming suggestion is going to be "Start your own private server".  Again, I've already got a lot of time invested on the server I play now so it makes sense to have them there with me.

I can have a bash at making one. I could make it so the chat GUI was toggleable like what the F1 key does, just for chat?

this is EXACTLY what im looking for, a toggleable button in the GUI options menu! i really dont want to have to type in a command every time

You cant really turn off the chat but you can go into options, multilayer settings and turn opacity to 0%, hope it helps

Theres already an option in vanilla minecraft.

i play multyP and i need to remove "player" words or chats or w.e.

but i want to recive system messages

as example if i type

/stats i see stats or i type /mcstats i see mc stats without having to reenter it because some faggit can not keep his month shut for a second
