[16x][1.3] 4x4 Ultra Low Res
Posted 05 January 2011 - 09:53 PM
Want something that brings back memories of those real classics like Pong?
I present to you the new, improved and really low def 4x4 texture pack!
This pack contains all the original Minecraft terrain textures lovingly rescaled down to the astoundingly low resolution of 4x4!
This isn't just a quick nearest neighbor rescale either, most of the textures were hand-edited to ensure that even at this remarkably low resolution you can still tell what you are looking at.
Note this texture is actually 16x16, it just looks like it's 4x4.
Artist not responsible for bleeding eyes or plagues of locusts that result from using this texture pack.

This reminds me of the experiment...I forget the exact details...but where we all have the ability to read a page of words where most of the letters are missing, except the first, middle, and last.
It's amazing how good that texture looks and how much visual information it still carries, considering the sparcity of detail!
Great stuff and cool idea.

It was actually quite a bit harder than I thought it was going to be and I'm still not entirely happy with some of the textures.
Doubt I'm going to put much more (if any) effort into it though as I did this mainly to see if I could.
(That and other non-Minecraft projects have been claiming my free time.)

You folks worry me at times.
I wonder how horrible the animals would look done like this?

While not 4x4, the tools are a correct 1/4th quality just like the terrain.
