I want to build a tree farm underground and I just wanted to know what are the minimum space requirements for each type of tree to grow.

Please post and comment below. Thanks.

You're going to get varying answers because you're saying minimum.  However 'minimum' for each tree type likely isn't what you want because tree growth will be very slow and if you try bonemeal, you'll go through a lot of it trying to grow them faster.

The basic rule of thumb I use is the 6,7,8 rule.  Oaks 6 blocks above the sapling, birch 7 blocks above the sapling, pines 8 blocks above the sapling.  Generally this will allow them to grow very quickly and usually with only one bone meal.

I tried it with terrible results. I gave my wife my glasses for a second, a creeper showed up and now my wife is pregnant.

Thanks for the help. Although, how tall is the recommended amount of blocks for a small jungle tree?

Totally forgot about jungle tree's.  I've been avoiding farming them because they seem to not drop enough saplings to potentially keep a farm going.

So I shouldn't farm jungle trees? Also, is 2 block spacing between each sapling sufficient?

Yes it should be, however you will want to segregate your different species, because the leaf blocks of another tree type will stop growth.

So a sapling can only grow through leaf blocks of it's own species? Also, will I get enough saplings to make up for the trees I cut if I space 2 blocks per sapling?

Along the same topic.  I am trying to get an underground giant jungle tree farm going but it seems the saplings don't want to grow as a group. I can go through a whole stack of bone meal and not get it to grow.  But as soon as i go to single saplings i can get tree's top grow even "tall" ones, but no giants.  What is the hieght needed and layout for giant Jungle tree's?

You can plant oak trees right beside on another and they will still grow.
