"Demo mode"... does this mean that if I don't log in, I can't play the full game? Because I often play without logging in, as my internet access can be spotty!

"I dunno, ZK, that sounds pretty awesome..." "Well then, let's get awesome!"
Theres currently no way to switch between modes in game though. If you're designing an arena or defence map you can't switch modes quickly for little tests. Will come in very handy for stuff like that for people that don't use mods.
I understand your reasoning,..... but it still feels to me like Jeb and co did not really want to work on Minecraft this week. Last week we had to guess what they were doing and this week...... ?
I am scared on what awaits us next week.
Does this mean the single player game is now running the server in the background?
Cause if it does, this is very good news for progress on the new API stuff.

Tis far better to be a witty fool than a foolish wit.

Have faith! I believe they're doing their best and the end result will be fantastic.
Just the option to invite your friends into your game without having to host/create/buy a server is fantastic.
We have creative mode, so what is the need for single player commands?
....
Well, /time and /gamemode, for two things. Although I use TMI, so I can just click the day/creative button. Also, if Mojang makes it where we can invite people to play with us on our singleplayer maps, it will be helpful for that. Unless you like talking to yourself or your pets, want to leave notes that aren't cluttering up your yard, or.... I dunno... I'm sure there are many, many other uses I'm not thinking of just yet.

That's the whole idea, he wants to basically make SSP and SMP one thing. You can basically invite people in, instead of having to do all this extra work. It also means for mod authors it's one thing to code for instead of two, because SSP and SMP are not the same code wise. From what I've been seeing obviously, it wasn't coded the same for SSP and SMP. So making it one complete unit, is less work for everyone along with the future Mod API.
I applaud this entire thing, because it pretty much brings new possibilities. Also new challenges no doubt but as with his interview, Jeb actually talked about this becoming one whole thing overall. Should be on some of the older pages, given you want to read up on it at some point.

I didn't know that was actually in the plans. I can't wait! But that makes me curious. How will that effect current SMP servers, and will there be a public server list, like for the classic minecraft servers? Or how will people be able to join if joining a server is by invite only? I'll have to look for that interview at some point.

I like to think of it more as a coop on the fly. Servers will still be the same but in someway we haven't been told yet you can invite other players into your game, so its a coop function.
They need to add a better combat. For mobs and for the player.Combat is all about poking and its boring. And some animations for attacks (also animation for mobs)If they add attack speed that could be great. So they can add more weapons to the game.Maces are slower but stronger. Also more mobs more places to explore.NPCs are still useless. They should give quests and stuff. This game has a good potential.

Watched it. Thank you kindly.

If thats is so.......... then it would be worth it and i would be very happy!

So wait, there's a command that lets you switch between creative and survival mode in SP now?

Why complain about a feature others like, that is OPTIONALLLLLLL? Who cares if someone else wants to do something you don't.
It doesn't effect you, so quit QQing.

You are kill Minecraft spirit. Game is not like 1.3-1.6 version. What about you thinking...
Its optional, you don't have to use the new features. The spirit of the game is not being harmed at all.
