How much are you willing to give up to find a way home? Your life? Your sanity? Your vaules? Your time?
How do you get back home? Memory? Trails? Hope?
How do you get back home, forum? Do you stick it out?
Post your storys of how you got lost, then how you got back home.
Here's mine:
I was trying to find some of that bammboo stuff, then when I found some of it I went to go back home, but I was lost. My obelisk not in sight. I wounder around aimlessly, paniced. I hadn't even left a trail, I was lost. Then I made a little house in the dirt. My plan was as follows: make a hut, make some stone picks, dig to the center of the Earth, get some Redstone, make a compass, and get the fuck back to my spawn.
It had been 2 weeks past since I was lost, 20days and nights in the Minecraft world. i had finaly dug to the bedrock, I found redstone. I have Iron too, I can go home now. I made a compass and found that I was over 20,000 blocks away from my house, and 40,000 away from my spawn.
When I get to the ocean, I see a famillier sight in the side of a mountain; my obelisk still burning in the night. The ammount of joy I had was great, it was so beautiful too see. I enter my house and see everything as it used to me, just beautiful.
So, what about you, forum?
It's hard waiting around for something that you know might never happen; but it's even harder to give up when you know it's everything you ever wanted.

1) Set up a mini base of ops and find myself some redstone to make a compus.
or
2) Start a new life out in the middle of nowhere. It would sort of be a hardcore mode becuase if you died that would have been it. Take on the thrill of not having a safety net if you died.
I'd probably go with option 2 becuase I play kind of a hermit building randomly all over the place with no regard to my spawn point. And I'm plagued with an amazing sense of direction making it hard for me to get lost so when I do, I really embrace it.

2.When I'm traveling with no compass, I go into a mine to get materials for a compass.
Absolutely no failure...yet

1. Get outside and build a dirt tower to the skylimit, then look for any landmarks or my pillar.
2. Use or make a compass, and then follow it back to my spawnpoint.
3. Suicide.
This is a signature, mkay?

When at the bedrock, I move in some directions to find redstone and iron. Then I make a compass, fill up the hole.
Short story: Compass.
I'm still looking for more feedback on my configurable Redstone Gate mod. All gates and common circuits (such as e.g. clocks, edge detectors, latches and Flip-Flops) in a single block.
