I am currently working on this project in survival mode. No cheating, everything done the hard way.
I recently found another testificate village, and will be fortifying that as well.
I can't decide on the layout of things. The big building to the left is an inn, and behind that is a tree farm. There are some small farms and fenced animals behind the buildings. I am still working on the gate.
I am looking for a medieval type village, I am also looking for suggestions of what type of building to build in the fortification.
I decided to name the stronghold Augustantine. It is only proper I gave it a name by now.
Thanks, I added on more stuff. Since this is survival, I am not always building. I explore, mine, farm, eat etc at the same time I am building.
The castle looks a bit weird, that is because I am very far away.
I am also using dokucraft texture pack.
The bunch of cobblestones on the bottom right, in front of the wall, is my architecture sampling place. I build examples of facade and battlements there so I can duplicate them elsewhere. These designs I learned from Jamziboy from youtube. I never realized I can use stairs upside-down until I watched his video.
Behind these walls lies my testificate village, and it is pretty safe... yup. If only there were mercenaries that I can hire to man these walls... I guess I can put my wolves and cats up there lol...
Its a cool build, but why are you floating in the main picture? Was it just a fly mod to show us the village?
Like I said, no mod no nothing. The only external thing are texture packs. I pillared about 64 blocks on dirt, on top of my house, to take that picture since the fort walls are too big to screen shot on low ground. This is the true way to play the game; to build and survive, not only just to survive or just build but both.
Thanks, glad you like it. I will be building a lot of houses around the stronghold. But first, my main goal is to finish the stronghold interior. Sadly, I ran out of wood and cobblestone, so back to exploring caves, lands, and etc until I get enough to build again.
Really cool. This kinda reminds me of something a seed that I saw where you had to defend a NPC village from mobs at night. You should check it out! The seed is Kronos (or something like that). I didn't kind the seed, so don't credit me.

Thanks for the info, I will try to check it out, still don't know how seeds work.
Here is an update:
This is the top level of the work in progress stronghold:
The Hall of Kings:
Augustantine so far:
Ran out of cobblestones again. Also, I gotta start collecting roses for dyes!
Just a question, will you end up flattening the land inside the stronghold?
Nope I won't make the floor entirely flat, the inside won't be all the same level. I am building a tower in the middle of the fortress that protrudes through the Hall of Kings, which is the hall on the top most layer of the stronghold. I might decorate the place more after I get more cobblestone.
In the hall of kings, there will be a stairwell behind a throne room, where it will lead up to the top of the tower, the Tower of Augustantine.
I will make a nether portal on top of this tower, just like the portal on top of tower of onyx in PS2 D&D game Dark Alliance 2.
The architectural style of the main building segment that continues from the facade will most likely be gothic.
It looks awesome! Add some iron golems and it safe
Yea, but sadly I can't control iron golems. If only mercenaries or fighters you can hire were in the game, I would man those walls. For now, I can only "man" those walls with silly dogs and cats.

Wow that's crazy awesome. The Dokucraft Texture Pack is by far the greatest pack to date. It makes everything look so unique! Keep up with the build, and post your progress as you go.

Thanks, may I ask what is Legacy?
