If your friends are trying to connect over the internet: Have you set up portforwarding or a hamachi network?

I tried hamachi but I ended up ditching it...    I'm TRYING to port forward.  I'm using my wrouter to do so.

Thank you guys,  this realy helped.  My problem was the port forwarding wasn't working right .  I ended up talking to the d-link customer suport, and then using what you guys said.  TTTTTTTTTTTTTHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNKKKKKKKKKKKKKSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSssssssssssssssssssssssss
