I'm currently living inside a village and I want to expand it into a city. The problem is, there seems to be way too little villagers to make up the city population.
Is there a way to make villagers breed very fast? If so, please show it or post a link to it.
For some reason they have a huge attraction to doors... So if you put a bunch of unopenable doors around them that'll get them hot and disturbed. Also, Too many items mod or creative mode could help.
Well, there are .35xthe number of doors as there are villagers in a village, so solution, when you are building your buildings for your city, make them tall, and make them have a crap load of rooms with a lot of doors, or you can just stick em into a hole and I believe that they glitch and breed like crazy.

I don't really want to use game glitches but thanks for the idea. I probably won't be using the glitch although about the tower- doesn't the "roof" of the "house" have to have direct contact to the sky/sunlight for it to count as a house? I read it in the wiki.

I'm playing on Vanilla SMP.
Is there any other methods to breed villagers fast? For example, some type of breeding machine?

This is EXACTLY what I was looking for! Thanks! Although, does it work in 1.2.5? And, do you need the villagers to be in the contraption for them to breed?

The villages need to be inside to make it easy to breed also make sure that the first 2 arn't that close to other villagers because peeping toms are a turn-off, I'm not sure if it works in 1.2.5 ,but i use 1.2.4 and it works fine, not my video btw i don't want to receive false credit

What do you mean by "peeping toms are a turn-off"?
I just built a box that was 6x6 blocks with doors on the outside for breeding villagers. For some reason, the 2 villagers I have inside the box don't seem to be breeding.
Your issue is probably related to what is around the area that you aren't telling us. For example, we don't know if there is a village nearby, if so how many doors does it have and how many villagers. Are there any other structures nearby with doors, if so how many doors?
Here is what I think I know. As someone else said, each door equals something like .35 villagers. So if you want a village with lets say 100 people, you will need 285 doors to get that many. So the breeding station you posted a pic of will only breed 8 villagers, if you sat it out in the middle of nowhere. The games village code, is designed to scale as the village is expanded, however I can't recall specifics of how that works. It sort of does a search from the village center out to the farthest inhabited house within a certain range parameter.

I'm talking about an in-game legit method to breed the villagers fast.
NAWW I'M KIDDING!
Seriously though. I have no idea.
(Dark room, torches, porkchops and noteblocks/jukebox)
Do you know anyone who might know how to breed villagers fast? If so, please get him to this thread.

Doors are so romantic

You just need to make a lot of houses to get more vilagers. My village got glitched and I kept getting more villagers like crazy.
I thought the glitch was fixed in 1.2.5?

I'm building a city so I would rather not have random huts all over the place...
Can anyone help with this?
The Breeder Machine looks exactly like this:

Hope that helps you figure it out.

I tried it with terrible results. I gave my wife my glasses for a second, a creeper showed up and now my wife is pregnant.
Stupid 3D..
