I'm going to keep this simple.
So, I started a hardcore world recently, and I've grown attached to that world, playing it every time I go on SP. I don't want the world to be deleted if I die, because I've made a nice house, tamed a few dogs, and have a good amount of iron. I'm just wondering, is there a way to change my world from hardcore to survival?
Thanks!

I'm sorry, but can you please explain more? I set my difficulty to "peaceful" but my world is still in hardcore.

Well, I believe if you go into the minecraft code, you can find the file relating to that minecraft world, and change the coding from hardcore to survival, or if you like mobs ^ what he said

'Too many items' is a mod that you can download in to change the world.

keep playing hardcore, it adds the need to live so you don't lose all that hard work, makes you prepare and shit like that.

I've kind of forgoten but its something like this
make a new world in survival mode using the same seed as your hardcore world's
then copy the region and data folders from your hardcore world and paste them into your survival world

Ps if you dont know how to get the folders then read on
(this is for windows)
Press the start button in the bottom left corner and click run
then search   %appdata%
after click the .minecraft folder and go to saves
there should be a folder with the original name of your hardcore world open it and you'll find the folders
copy them into the survival world folder

Thanks, now I won't have to use mods to change the modes next time this happens. :)

this.  it is noy a mod, it is a program that allows you to change many things in your worlds, like the weather, inventory, player position, mode, difficulty, xp, etc.

i havnt had to update it since 1.7 if that matters to you.

Use Single Player Commands mod and type /hardcore when you are in dat world. then log off the world. after that, go back into dat world. the hearts will be changed and you can play Survival without deleting the world!

(BTW there is no LEGIT way. only modding can do it.

Draco look. If you read the minecraft description is said Hardcore mode is LOCKED at hardcore difficulty. There is no way to change the difficulty of hardcore mode.

(BTW hardcore difficulty is the same as hard).

Well, this is very simple in versions as of 1.4+.  to start, go into 'Single-Player' and highlight your world. Click 'Re-Create' and then click 'More World Options' and there's your seed! click on the box, click CTRL+A, then click CTRL+C to retrieve it. Using this, create a new world in this seed. then, watch this video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KPIpDj4i8R4

ignore 'AutoSwitch' on his video.

I needed to recover a Hardcore World for a friend which he had died on and...... IT WORKED! :D
