Gaah... Okay guys, I'm gonna need some help. I'm trying to install some mods to minecraft (hoverboat, extra NPCs, etc), part of this is deleting the folder META-INF. I attempt to do this using WinRAR, only to get this result:

And of course I've made a backup of the original minecraft.jar file. :P I'm using WinRAR 3.93.

The easy way? Redownload it. Try again. Until success.

Try using 7-zip. It's a good program and it is free. http://www.7-zip.org/

Thanks for suggestions, I actually got it to work after far too many headaches on my part. :P I had to unpack the jar file to a folder, make the modifications there, then pack it to jar again using a few custom settings.

Back with Alpha 1.2.something, I would get an Archive Corrupt error after Minecraft AutoMap added its class file to the .jar. I haven't really been playing around with mods lately (but I so need to try out Mo' Creatures), so I don't know if the same thing would happen with Beta and MCAM's latest version.

By the way, does 7-Zip even work with modifying a .jar without extracting it? The site says .rar is unpack only... but Wikipedia says .jar is actually based on .zip, so I dunno. Don't want to have a shell conflict by having both 7-Zip and WinRAR installed at the same time, and I can't open a .jar with regular WinZip, so someone else test that please.
