grass is used in such huge amounts, yet it has to have a specific sort of pattern... so it's very difficult. what ive done however, is made a grass "frame" from an edited version of the texture i posted before... a border of a few pixels around the edges. then i copied the main texture 3 times, rotated each copy a bit. 90 degrees, 180, and 270. then i stuck the border around them, and smoothed out the seams that made, so basically, the tiles can appear rotated now, but still tile. ive been working on variants too. dirt patches. (did i mention i redid dirt?) dead spots, and random bits of other stuff i haven't thought of yet. i want grass to have a ton of variants since it's such a hugely used texture.
At any rate, glad I could help. One of my favorite things in Minecraft is watching texture packs grow, and being able to help the process, even a little, is an enjoyable experience.
i think even with the new texture system people will still need a hd patcher to run my pack because it's 64x. ive not heard anything about the new system fixing the glitches caused by HD packs on vanilla, only that it allows for animation in vanilla.
and, since ive not posted in a bit, here's a graphic for my plans for the pack's future.
the next release will be out once i complete the terrain.png (though it won't exist anymore by time it's out, but... those last textures) and redo the one's X'd in red.
