let me say this....

our civilization will expand into space... and we will meet other civilizations.....

do you know why.....

it is inevitable...our very blood demands it, with every step we take into the future that vision becomes more real, just like we imagined plans and trains, and cars, and space ships.....

nothing will change this... NOTHING

I like the space exploration and the mysteries of the universe, but i think before go to another planet, first we need to solve a lot of earthlings problems..if we go to the sapce with the same problems,we only change the enviroment..the actual social structure are rotted..egoism it's the rule..(half-hidden by a lot of hypocrisy..),basically the social stucture it's the same than thousand years ago..more complex and specialized, but only apparently..

To extend humanity in other places, first we need change the actual way of live..and stop playing Monopoly...that make cheaper the exploration..exchange values starting to avoid go with the material posesions at all places to change with others, but now that make us insane  of greed..

All games work's because everyone accepts the rules..(soccer,baseball,etc..than games can work if you change any rule, but wasn't the same game..isn't better or worst, only diferent..now maybe are improved, but the new game with time can be improved like the others..)

The cuestion is with the actual social system,There are things with more priority than go to Mars or something from space exploration..the economic crisis has affected all world, and i think isn't just Nasa or other gobernamental organitsation use a lot of money to that kind of projects, when  many companies go bankrupt, people without work be throw from their homes by banks,etc..

wars will never end, problems will always remain, they will just change "from", disasters will remain, accidents will always happen, waiting to "solve" anything in order to advance civilization as we know it will doom us into extinction or worst....stagnation

I do not understand why people may think that aliens may be hostile to us.Maybe,If we don't become too greedy,We can become allies with them.

Remember back in 1492 when Columbus sailed the ocean blue? He found Native Americans ("indians") and later on the indians and settlers became hostile with one another and many of the indians were killed off by purposely spreading diseases. And you think something similar wouldn't happen with space aliens?

Not if we learn from mistakes. We have to change. But I would like to find a habitable planet.

It's a common stereotype that all aliens are here to destroy the earth etc. The only problem is the language barrier in the first place. Before anything can happen between the two races they got to understand each other.

One day I'll care. That day is not today.

We solved that for quite some time already. It's called maths and logic. Read up on Lincos, it's an entire language based solely on the laws of logic.

oh since that's done I guess its the fact of discovering a new race which can still take thousands of years depending how far away they are.

Well I think it's mostly  because thats what we do, and we just assume thats what aliens would do too. A lot of the time in movies and books when aliens invade the primary reason is for resources or something that they need and Earth as. Then it's just a simple measure of killing off the monkeys (us) sitting on the stuff and getting it.

I think a big issue that would occur if we made contact/ mixed our cultures with alien species would be racism (speciesism?) In the fact that a lot of us, and maybe even a lot of them, would hate the others for being different or dangerous.

That being said Id love to come into contact with aliens, (hopefully peaceful ones). Any ding bat with half a brain stem knows killing off and going to war is typically pointless and unnecessary. So hopefully we'd be able to swap tech and learn from each other. ^^

That's really cool. Hopefully it'll work; shortening the no-stop trip to Mars will make it much easier, hopefully.

Though the Daily Mail as usual is making it seem more definite of a plan than it actually is -_-
