Hi, when I play Minecraft, it runs ok but after a few minutes it just closes. It dumps a error log on my desktop and that's it. It doesn't have on flat worlds but does on normal worlds.
At first It thought it was my 512mb stick I have in my pc but I took it out and try with my 2gb stick and it still happend.
I have no idea what it could be and I'm really confused.

Specs:
Intel Pentium 4 - 3.04Ghz - Dual Core
2.5GBs RAM
Ati FireGL v3100 - 128mb

This has been happening to me too! I can play minecraft (somewhat) happily on my netbook, but not my old-ass desktop. I don't understand why, though.

A friend of mine just purchased the game today, and he gets this exact error each time he tries to log in. He can start it up and type in his nick and password, but soon after he clicks "Login" the game disappears and a Java error log is dumped on the desktop. This sucks as I just convinced him to join us on my server. We've tried reinstalling Java and reinstalling Minecraft, but doesn't work.

Its your GFX or your RAM, although it may not seem like it, minecraft requires a LOT more CPU than many other games, and as i have read in the first post, you only have a 128mb gfx card, and that may also be a problem if you try far, normal, or small render distance

to fix this, i would:
1. Turn render distance to tiny (Options - Video settings)
2. Turn particles to minimal (Options - Video settings)
3. Turn difficulty to peaceful (Options) (This is because hostile mobs has a spawn limit on 200, which really takes a lot of RAM)

4. If nothing of this helps, get a better pc (Mostly on the RAM and GFX)!

*EDIT*

Also, *FACEPALM* because of the obviously bad computer specs and because you didnt read the bug report yourself, which exlpains that this is the problem

I don't think its just the specs as my friend got a pretty decent laptop. 4 core CPU and 6gb RAM. Not sure about the graphics memory as it is an integrated Intel Graphics HD i3, but would think this should be decent and new enough to run Minecaft.

Happens since Beta 1.8 to anyone who has an old version of Catalyst (on XP) when multi texturing kicks in (e.g. near biome boundaries).
The latest version of Catalyst (for XP)  doesn't have that problem.
If it's a Mobility Radeon you may need to use this tool to mod the driver before installing.
If you card is older than a Radeon 9500 you can't use this..

Artismatik has a SiS graphics card and even updated to the latest drivers probably doesn't support OpenGL well enough to run Minecraft.

Figured as much. I was only asking because my lil' bro wanted to play on the desktop, which has been offline for 2 years. Ah well. Thanks!
This statement is false.

The system specs aren't the problem I have a fully capable gaming rig that can play Battlefield 3 on ultra with 70FPS. This is a java problem I would recommend reinstalling java

I get this problem also - Only I have an nvidia graphics card... anybody know how to fix it? It only seems to happen when I play on multiplayer servers :(

Very annoying to have both lag, crappy framerate, AND random crashes.

I have a similar problem, whenever I join a multiplayer server I can play quite happily for a minute or so; when minecraft just closes. No error report left or anything.

I also have this problem, it closes with no error or not responding message. But everytime it happens, it creates a .txt file shortcut labeled "hs_err_pid" PLEASE HELP!
