1) No cheating
2) Build

Server is very nice,

It is simple and a bit quiet but the people on it all seem very nice. Still lots of land near the spawn to be able to build and since it is vanilla there is no weird stuff at the moment and noone going around with unlimited blocks making foolish things

I think you may be getting me confused with someone else.
But no, it was definitely not just me or my connection. For a good five or ten minutes EVERYONE was lagging really badly and complaining about it. It was to the point where everything going on around me (player movements, stuff like that) was at least 30 seconds behind. This has happened twice while I've been on the server.

I would like to continue playing on this server. I am now aware that the rules have changed and that this is no longer a no rules server, i was informed just now. But your forum post still says its vanilla and has no rules. I was banned because i was trying to help my friend get unbanned after killing danephan. Your admin/mod danephan is a fucking idiot. That's all I have to say, unban me or not I'm just saying that danephan is butt-hurt and is abusing his power.

It's not a matter of being "butt-hurt" or a "fucking Idiot" The server is up for people to have a good experience and have fun playing in a decent environment without having to deal with a whole shit ton of bull shit, griefers, or douchbags who have no common sense to others. I nor any other admin for that fact need to hear about how you guys are running around killing people, taking their stuff, and burning their builds. I could care less if you think I'm being a dick, or are a fucking Idiot. Whats retarted is people like you guys running around pissing everyone off. No one should ever have to "inform you" not to be fags, grief and steal. Those rules have pretty much stayed standard, no matter what server you get on or what stage it is being tested at. I have to disagree with you about certain rules being "common logic." There are plenty of servers out there that allow stealing, griefing, and unrestricted pvp. It's a different way of playing the game, and it can be a lot of fun. I am someone who, in addition to the more civilized, standard type of gameplay, enjoys these type of servers. What I'm getting at is that I don't think you can expect people to adhere to your set of unspoken rules when you advertise your server by saying that, and I quote, "The only rules are... No cheating, Build, and Try to survive."

I do not however disagree with the fact that you are well within your right to run your server as you see fit, including banning those who interfere with your preferred style of play.

Note: This isn't a ban appeal, and I'm not trying to start an argument. I just felt the need to voice that opinion.

I understand that i wouldn't come on a server i know nothing about and just kill people. That is obviously common logic. But if the rules for the server are just to survive then i don't know why YOU don't understand what were trying to say.

Usually those servers will state being PVP. For OBVIOUS reasons. The state of this PARTICULAR forum was during a test and outdated. It again would also be marked/flagged as PVP from the get go even if it was vanilla. The server has not been vanilla for almost 5 days. The vanilla was only up for 2 days.  New posts are made frequently especially when in testing. I do understand the logic of where you are coming from. But this server has been up for a long time and the base rules have never changed. Even when going in and out of vanilla testing. Minecraft has not been so stable to deal with we all know that and frequent testing does have to be preformed. I understand that you were not aware of said "rules" but this server was also not flagged as pvp. Perhaps Tereas will appeal my decision, I don't know.

I have not read the above posts, but a quick look suggests this post shall help. Lets define vanilla shall we? Vanilla, pretty basic. Vanilla ice cream, the first, the favorite. Also the most basic. One could add chocolate chips, one can add other flavors. Now lets relate this to minecraft SMP. Each flavor of icecream can be descibed as a mod, or many groups of mods, each giving a server (icecream) a unique taste and flavor you wont find anywhere else. even the players them selves contribute to this. Furthermore vanilla is modless, basic, and plain. The core of it all. But still the same each companies vanilla, or other flavor, tastes and is made slightly different. These are the RULES. And yes, I do dare say this is what vanilla really means. That a vanilla server is basic, and the core of Minecraft, which is to say un-modded. This isn't to say it doesnt have rules, as they most definately do.

Moral of the story? No one CARES if you think greifing is ok, when we clearly state that it WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. And iI' not saying I'm unforgiving towards you misunderstanding either. But it really pisses me off when I give you a second chance and you still go and burn down a forest because you misunderstand the meaning of "vanilla" and somehow cant get over the fact that, oh my, guess we have rules like - not being a prick and ruining other peoples hard work and then going and burning a forest becuase between you and us there has been a misunderstanding on the word vanilla. Its a word. Its OK. You could have brought Google Dictionary instead of your Flint and Steel.

This is in response to, well, you know who you are via the example above. But this should apply to EVERYONE over EVERY server. Maybe someone made a mistake. Maybe you didn't know, and maybe we didn't and its ok. We will forgive you. This doesn't mean you can continue disobey the rules or you WILL be banned.

In a seperate post due to its not full relation to the post above, and after reading what seems to be going on in the posts above...

I would like to point out that while the rules above dont really say no greifing and such, me, nor danephen, had any reason to check this post previously due to being op/admin on ter's server before it was beta, and we have followed the previous rules thusly, including no greifing etc. at the moment Ter isnt available for me to talk to (or i wouldnt be making this post) but neither of us were made aware of rule changes by Ter or if this is another issue. Furthermore the rules may have been changed and this thread should be changed and locked, which i will discuss with Ter first i see of him. I do recall seeing another post when i searched for this one, i will check it and edit it in here if this is the case...

Edit: and as is the case here, but this post was made by danephen, and thus we have conflicting rules. All bans will stay as is, pending finality on rules which will be discussed asap. In the case of reverting to rules stated in this post, and not dan's, bans made due to this rule confliction will be lifted.

A good server for anyone looking for a relatively small community (at least from what I've seen) and vanilla gameplay. Good map, not too mountainous, not too flat either, with friendly mods. Looking forward to revisiting, already started on an outpost a good distance from spawn.
