Not sure where this goes, but I have a question about colors.  I know you can use colors in the MOTD and timedmessages and such.  I know you can't type ampersands in chat or through the server window (doesn't do anything through the server command window), so how do players talk with colors?  I looked at my server window and saw them use an ampersand (which makes no sense to me) too.

If your server is connected to an IRC channel, one could use from colours from there. If it were people IN the server who did it, I believe they could be using some new custom client. I've had problems with a few people crashing my server by using incorrect "&" codes, and I'm sure that could also be applied to actually speak with colours.

Though Im just guessing.

Last i checked it's impossible unless your client allows the & Character, either this or your custom server uses a different color like ^ or % like JTE's software did, IRC is possible as stated above.

Using MC#'s server console message allows you to speak in colors, as far as I know

I hosted a server last summer and recently returned since I'm done with school, so I have no idea how to even connect it to an IRC channel (I'm behind on the times when it comes to server administration and custom scripts/clients).  And the player that used color did happen to crash my server twice.  I ended up just banning them because it was annoying and because I didn't want it to crash anymore.  More than once is enough for me and my friends.

I have color on my timedmessages through the server script I use (Dexter's) and that's it.  And I use the WoM client.  Would that have anything to do with it?

Next time I see it, I'll take a screenshot of the server log and client window with the colored text.

And again, it's near impossible for you to talk IN-GAME with colors unless your Client allows it, i'm pretty sure your console can do something like &4You're going to get banned. Or something like that.

The GUI Client might be differet than a regular console window, so of course it will show colors.

Yeah... I just tried that and bunch of other different symbols.  The text didn't change color, just the symbol with the text afterwards.

Like I said, next time I see it, I'll bloody screencap it.

it requires a server-side mod such as essentialschat or ichat.
