Hi, I am using OS lion and I know where my .minecraft folder is (i think) and I've been able to install texture packs in the texture pack folder, but the "mods" folder that people talk about to put your mods in to install them  doesn't seem to be there... any help would be lovely :)

You have to create it yourself.

Just make a folder named "mods", exactly like that.

You need to install forge compatible with your minecraft.
or
if you use mods that don't need forge no modloader add them in this directory:

.minecraft/bin/minecraft.jar (open it with WinRar and then put the mod.)
