About:
This is a one-to-one scale recreation, as best as I could possibly make it, of Valve's classic game Portal.
Each room was mapped and measured meticulously block for block. Everything was built by hand in Creative mode, and SPC was used only to go through walls and switch between survival and creative mode during testing. In places where the tests didn't play properly in Minecraft, dimensions were changed or elements were added to make it play as much like the original Valve game as I could, sacrificing aesthetic for functionality as little as possible. I tried to keep these changes absolutely minimal. If you find anything that you think I missed — a camera on the wall, an observation room I didn't recreate — let me know and I'll add it!

"EXACT" VERSION - v0.51
This version of the map is meant to be as exactly like Portal as possible! It contains things like elevators and speaker blocks, things that can only be added by extra mods. Make sure you install all of the required mods before playing this version.
The above mods are all very easy to install, and if you do have any trouble, I recommend using Magic Launcher, which is what I use and which makes modding even easier.
"iCHUN ONLY" VERSION - v0.51
This version of the map is as accurate as I could make it to the original Portal game using only vanilla Minecraft and iChun's portal gun mod.
Be sure to use the latest version of the texture pack, which is included in each of the above downloads.
The custom texture pack for this map is a modified version of Carlotta4th's "Precisely Portal." Feel free to use it on your own maps, provided you credit Carlotta4th and myself, and check out Carlotta4th's original texture packs.
Also, I used the Chell skin from this post in building, testing, and playing this map. It's my favorite Portal 1 Chell skin that I've seen around.
Rules:
Don't break any blocks
No sprinting (Chell couldn't do it, neither can you)
Suggestions:
Play on "Peaceful" Difficulty (under "Options)
Set your Brightness to "Bright" (under "Options->Video Settings") If you experience lag while playing this map:
Set Graphics to "Fast" (under "Options->Video Settings")
Set "Render Distance" to Short or Tiny (under "Options->Video Settings") If you have trouble with textures not appearing the way that you think they should:
Uninstall Optifine, if you have it installed
This map was designed for Minecraft 1.2.5. It shouldn't work on any older or newer version.

I came here to say several things. One was that this is an awesomely great map. Super good, dude. The second was to ask if that was your personal modification of the PP texture, and would it be okay to stea-.... use it? There seem to be a few very nice differences from normal PP.
Third was to point out that you seem to be missing A LOT of floor blocks between chambers that made the map very unplayable.... but then I came back and noticed the part about your CMH mod. That'll teach me to skim posts. Depending on how it works, I might just add your mod to the map I'm working on now. Reminds me of one of the features in AdventureCraft (may it rest in peace).
Have you thought about adding Exanadu/IronClad's elevator mod to replace the open-air ladders/drops your have between chambers? If not for playability, than for the aesthetics of it.

The only differences between this texture pack and PP is that some of the textures are moved around, and I stretched one of the textures over four blocks so I could make the 2x2 black wall panels that are in the original game.
I have thought about those, but I didn't want to require people to install a third mod to play. I'm weighing options at this point.
Well, until (and unless) the other mods get condensed into one, to do what you've done but with Portal 2 would require the gels mod, the lazer mod and (when it's released) the lightbridge mod. So you'd already be tacking on weight anyway. Don't see how another could hurt.
It seems like a lot of people were still confused about the mod thing, so I made the one that requires the extra mod the alternate download. Hopefully people won't be so confused now!

- You know that chamber where GLaDOS says that it's impossible? You can just carry a cube through the emancipation grid! I realise your just a map maker, so I should probably mention this to iChun if he doesn't know already.
- I lost track of what test chamber I'm in! If you could please put some signs up for future releases that'd be pretty sweet.
EDIT: After a bit of poking around in the config file, sure enough, you can enable cube destruction in emancipation grids. It seems strange to have this off by default, in my opinion.
For those looking to have emancipation grids destroy cubes, head to your config file and change fizzlercubemode to 1 (the default is 0).

None of these test chambers were designed particularly for lighting, and the original portal had a much better lighting system than minecraft offers. I added a suggestion to the main post that you play on Peaceful with Bright brightness, since that's how I designed it to be played, though it's certainly not required.

GAH! The properties file changed variable names on me there (thank you so much for being awesome iChun! no sweat about it, I love the changes), and I failed to notice the change since I hadn't tested that level since my last release. *fixing* Fixed for version 0.4.

I had been planning on adding test chamber signs, but I wasn't quite sure how to implement them. They probably won't be fancy, but if I don't put them in the next release, they'll be in the release after that.

I have been trying to install minecraft forge for the portal gun mod and I have been able to install modloader, modloaderMP, and the portal gun mod but I can't install minecraft forge. I have tried 5 times and have been unsuccessful. This maybe asking a lot but could you give me a download for a jar installed with modloader, modloaderMP, and MC Forge? If so, I will play the map. Thx!
EDIT: It would also be nice for it to have the checkpoint mod thing installed!

Quick question, do I need to keep Magic Launcher or can I throw it away now?
My attempt at this map so far is sad... I can't even get out of the first room where you spawn. I have actually never played portal so I might need some help. There are no holes or anything to get out and I can't break blocks. What do I do? ;( Again, I'm sorry.

you have to have the portal gun mod and after you install reinstall the map but anyways... i love your map i cant wait untill the new test chambers come out

You need to keep it. It doesn't make any changes to your Minecraft jar, just launches a new, modded copy of it, as far as I can tell.
