The topic is being rewritten, with enough information about the mod, recipes etc. At the moment, I'm nót taking any applications.


This awesome mod which added the possibility to travel to the moon was made by sutr90, but sadly he couldn't update it anymore. This made a lot of people really sad, including me.

Being a modder, I had some pm contact with sutr90, he said it was ok for me to update this mod to new versions and change it arround and everything

This download includes the updated moon mod, ready to be played by you. I fixed a lot of ore-spawning issues, dimension problems etc but there might be some little bugs, please inform me in this topic and I will look into them

This mod uses Pudelhund's DimensionAPIbut he allows me to put the files from his API in my mod so it's aready in there, you DONT need to download it anymore!

This mod uses Risugami's Modloader too but you need to install that yourself, if you haven't already.


This mod is currently only for Single Player but I plan to make it for SMP as well.

1. Download and install Modloader
2. Download the mod from the link above
3. Drag the files from inside the zip, into your minecraft.jar in your appdata
4. Profit

Another possibility is to use (your favorite) mod installers which install mods for you but you should look into that yourself if you want/need.

Please make a new save for this mod or make a backup of your world as removing this mod might cause corrupt data to your save file.

Well, it took some hours (literally, about 6/8) but I rewrote the whole dimension system to work neatly without using ShockAhPI and which goes quite faster. I optimized some code and now the result is

a spawning moon world accesable by cheese teleport with various moon blocks appearing there

The dimension code as written now, is able to create many dimensions by just tweaking some numbers, which means that it is easy to create other planets and comets etc


Now, it is up to you. I need your input for this mod to be succesful as it once was. What do you want? What do you need? Do you want aliens roaming the moon? Do you want a planet full of ... ?


I'm  not saying I'm going to implement everything you say but I surely want to take input in consideration (as long as the quality stays guaranteed)


Of course, everything that used to be in there will be in there now


Perhaps, if I am able to spend some more hours on doing the rest, a '"preview release" consisting of the old moon mod ready for 1.2.3 might be released somewhere in the next 2 weeks

you rewrote the dimension code!?!?!?!?! That is impressive and could be really helpful! (I have yet to make dimensions.) If you want some help with items or blocks or anything i'd be happy to help. Also great job this looks like it'l be fun!

Well, for now I'm doing fine by myself but I'll consider it when the mod gets bigger


I made the gravity/walking speed on the moon lower, it is quite fun for some time but could get annoying, that's why I'll add gravity boots that improve gravity a little (so that you can just jump arround instead of almost flying)

Today I'll fix some entities to walk ingame etc

[My ideas from the original request thread]

Here are some ideas, I spend a good hour or two coming up with these:

Equipment:
-While wearing the Moon Helmet your field of vision is limited. You can craft more advanced Helments to make it clearer
-You can obtain unique moon metals and materials that you can take back to the overworld to craft awesome armor

Mobs:
-Those blue aliens have little villages scattered across, and they need you to help to protect them from the Enderman and their evil experiments. Basically, for some time the Enderman have been on the moon experimenting with creatures from the overworld. When they experimented with human DNA they created the harmless blue Aliens. They have also experimented with other creatures:
-Endercreep: Creeper with bright purple endermen eyes, they are rare however their explosions are nasty. They may be the reason there are all these crators...
-Enderspider: Spiders with bright purple enderman eyes, they shoot purple venom out and if it hits you, instant poison
-Enderchik: Very rare, a giant chicken that kills things by stomping on it. They hatch from giant pulsating Eggs.
-Endercow: Harmless cow that gives you Moon Milk. They are radioactive so being near them decreases your health slowly.
-Moonshroom: Very rare, however less rare then Mooshrooms. They are exactly like Mooshrooms except they have a Moon Helmet on.
-Endercelot: Giant viscious ocelot with saber-tooth like fangs.
-Enderpig: These poor pigs are failed experiments. They are deformed looking. If you feed them Moon Milk they become normal, and you are given a diamond. They are very rare however.
-Endersheep: These sheep, when sheared give you Reiforced Cloth Block (the thing you use to make space suits etc)
-Endersquid: Floating squid with purple eyes. If you hit them and knock them to the ground they become hositle ground mobs.
-Enderbeast: found in Enderman villages on the moon, they are what an Endermen version fo the Werewolf from Mo Creatures would look like. They are normal Enderman to begin with, but when provoked turn into Enderbeast which is a fast deadly creature.
-Endergolem: Golems with Enderman eyes, they are neutral until you attack an Enderman they will attack you.


Then of course Endermen. [All above mobs have Enderman eyes/ purple eyes except blue aliens]

Questing, etc:

Apollo 2 Team, which was a group of people who where among the first to discover / enter the cheese portal. The very first, Apollo 1, entered the portal without proper gear not knowing where the portal would take them, and it was said they suffocated and died. The team then made Apollo 2 as their second attempt, this time with proper equipment. However, they didn't find the team of Apollo 1 anywhere, and instead, found Endermen.

What really happened to the Apollo 1 team is they did suffocate, however Endermen discovered them, and using their technology they brought them back to life as Enderzombies: they wear the trademark Apollo 1 suit.

Now team Apollo 2 is looking for team Apollo 1 while trying to escape and hide from Endermen. On the moon you will find moontents, and in them Apollo 2 members. There they will tell you about Apollo 1 and how they are trying to find them, and about "black beasts with petrifying eyes" (Endermen) and how they want to stop them. Here is where you can do quests to help them find Apollo 1 members and what really happened to them, and to kill Endermen and various Endermen creatures. Also reuniting the Apollo 2 members (you can get them to follow you) so that the whole team is together and not separated. You will find Apollo 2 tents abandoned with notes like how you described, [Fisher88]

I really only wanted the moon mod and although other planets sounds cool is it possible if you could just make a seperate download for just the moon mod? I might change my mind but for now I really only want to explore the moon.

Love this, and I think cool new mobs would be epic. Here are my ideas:

Cometcreepers

The moon has a lot of craters, but way? Well, because of cometcreepers! These guys are very annoying. They aren't like those stalking brothers on earth, not at all. These guys are a random event, but they happen often. You will see a Cometcreeper fall down (you'll hear a sound) and when you hear that, there's one thing to do: RUN LIKE HELL! When these guys hit you/the moon landscape they'll explode. Their explosions aren't that big. They drop nothing because there is almost no chance you will kill them.

Moonbuggies:

They drive around on the moon and they can jump one block. They are like Skeletons: They shoot lasers or something at you. When you kill them, they drop Metal scrap, which can be smelted into some kind of metal, maybe Iron ingots or the Aluminium ingots from the original mod? Would be epic.

Aluminium tools and armor:

Simple as that. Also, maybe Bauxite can be found on the moon in the Regolith as an ore? Could have the same stats as Iron or something.

Neil's flag:

Right-click it to set your spawn (Maybe that's hard to do?) or some other purpose, such as an achievement or something else. Spawn randomly, would be fun.

Regolith hunter:

This guy spawns on the moon and he's quite rare. He hunts down the blue guys. They are like really strong Spiders: They climb walls, they jump on top of you to hurt you or just hit you. They drop Regolith and maybe a special other item, such as... I don't know, Blue guy meat?

Blue guy meat:

They should drop their own meat which can be cooked and would have the same food value as Cooked chicken? Would be cool.

Apollo 1 zombies:

Due to Gamma rays, the dead bodies of the Apollo 1 guys (see one of the ideas of Newbish) transformed into these Zombies. The moon equivalent of the Zombie, drop Rotten flesh and Broken moon helmet/jacket/pants/sneakers, which can be repeared with one reinforced clotch block. Spawn very often.

Mooncorn:

Sometimes Regolith drops this when destroyed with any tool/item. Can be farmed like Wheat, with one exception: It drops one Corn. This Corn can be put in the furnace to get Cooked corn, which would be another food source, or it can be converted into 2 Corn seeds (Crafting). Corn seeds can be cooked too, to get Popcorn!

Also, if you like the Mooncorn, Regolith should be Hoe-able (have no other word for it).

If you like my ideas, I could send more if I get new ones, because I really like what your doing and it would be great to help with it!

Do you think that you could make this compatible with buildcraft and industrial craft? It would be an awesome thing to work towards, especially in the later stages, maybe you could add resources unique to each location as well?

Well, I wás planning to make the different planets out of different resources but you gave me a brilliant idea. The moon could have different biomes, some with harder resources and some with softer, etc. And this could be done for the different planets.


Making it industrialcraft/buildcraft compatible could be achieved but it would be rather hard as they both use a lot of resources etc, but I think it can be done



I am also thinking about making the earth-part a little sophisticated, like that you have to gather special materials to make portals/rocketships to get to different planets (don't worry, the cheese portal stays for the moon, that's for sure)

I just had an idea, and I wanted to bounce it off of you.

Instead of the world being one enormous moon or planet that just goes on and on, what if the space mod was kind of like the Aether mod. Most of the area is open space and there are 50 x 50 block circular islands (planets) generated every once in a while, along with asteroid fields where you can get resources, and maybe an abandoned spacestation or two? You could use a Zepplin-type mod to make spaceships to get around. I'm not a modder, but if I was, this is what I would work on. This, and a Wheel of Time mod....

I know this probably isn't what you're looking for, but I really want to traverse and conquer space!
