I am currently getting some issues with getting Minecraft to work on the W8 Consumer preview. Here is the error i am getting.

	  Bad video card drivers!
	  -----------------------
Minecraft was unable to start because it failed to find an accelerated OpenGL mode.
This can usually be fixed by updating the video card drivers.

I COULD be wrong, but that's probably because Minecraft was never written to work with Windows 8...

I've got Windows 8 and it's working fine for me. Have you tried using compatibility mode?

it says its your graphic cards drivers, doesn't it? do you have all the drivers up to date? when it worked on win7 it dhould work on win8 with the same card.
its either outdated drivers, or drivers that are not yet fully developed for win8? dunno that much about win8.
1.Everybody deserves help. You can only gain experience through failure.
2.Maximum signature length 2 lines? SRSLY?

I've just realised you have (almost) the same laptop as my brother. This is how I fixed it:
  • Download this
  • Run it in compatibility mode for Windows 7
  • Install it
  • Open the installation folder
  • Run CatalystMobility.exe in compatibly mode for Windows 7.
  • Download the file
  • Run the file you downloaded using CatalystMobility.exe in compatibility mode for Windows 7
  • Enjoy! :D

This trick should work for anyone else if you download the correct driver software

Yeah. One of the main problems of Windows 8 at the moment is that there are no drivers are out for Windows 8 so you have to find a workaround.

I can't get it to work on Windows 8 at all. I have the latest drivers (Intel HD Graphics family) and even tried downloading the latest drivers but when I go to install them it says my computer doesn't meet the requirements (not sure if it's because the setup is for Windows 7 or what).

It worked on this laptop in Windows 7. I'm not going back to Windows 7...Guess I have to wait until Windows 8 officially launches... lame.

You can bypass this problem by running the installation program using compatibility mode for Windows 7.

Nope, tried that in every compatibility mode possible, and it still says 'your computer doesn't meet the minimum system requirements'.

I have a fix for the windows 8 incompatibility... well more of a workaround than a fix, but it works well:

OK! I found a fix for this! I have a Intel HD Graphics and would constantly get this error about OpenGL as you have described. SO... I searched around on the windows 8 forums and found this:
http://www.eightforu...000-3000-a.html
I downloaded this one:
http://dl.dropbox.co...2254_SIGNED.zip
And was able to use minecraft afterwards. BUT you MUST install this First in order to do any of this! :::
http://dl.dropbox.co...ate Install.exe
Do not worry! It works! Virus free and you can delete it afterwards. But i assure you it will work.
When I installed it my screen blinked and got all blurry and at a bad resolution then reverted back to normal. Then without even a restart, I was able to use Minecraft!
