you are referring to software (programs) right?

If so, Yes they are called Photoshop and if you dont gave the cash or the means to get that one then there is Gimp (free, just google it) AND they ARE image editing software not texture makers per see.

If you do try to use Photoshop, there are templates (almost if not all sizes) somewhere in the Texture pack part of the forum

What do you mean with that? Most people use GIMP, Photoshop or Paint.NET when creating the textures.

No, there isn't a maker, but most people use Adobe Photoshop or something similar.

facepalm

You have to use an image editor that supports transparency (not mspaint)
you then have to find the right files and edit them
if you couldn't understand my bad explanation, look here

Paint.NET is free and quite good. All you do is open the minecraft.jar and grab those folders and shit out and resize and edit them :)

If I was Notch, I would be using the Notch account. If I was Notch and trying to hide it, I would not publicly display it as my Minecraft name.

Beside the image editing program you will need 7zip or winRAR. Then grab the texture files from your minecraft jar, save them somewhere else, edit them with some program and zip them up correctly. The zip file is your texture pack, you don't need a special program to make a pack, just a zipping program and an image editor...

I think he means an actual software like skinedit or something along those lines, something explicitly made for texturing minecraft.
My favourite hats are the top hat and the fez. I also like monocles, but those aren't hats. What were we talking about?
