I'll elaborate on these points when I have more time but here are some points I believe would help to expand and balance the methods for obtaining experience orbs:
1 – Mob Spawner nerf (killing mobs spawned by a spawner rewards no exp. Rewards are in the chests so no need for exp from these guys) 2 – Diminishing returns – repetitive kills/actions reward less exp orbs 3 – EXP scaling – Amount of EXP gained based on the action and ease or difficulty of access 4 – Different ways to obtain exp – Killing mobs, killing bosses, collecting materials from animals, farming, mining certain ores, looting miner's chests, etc... 5 – Increased exp for fighting mobs at night. 6 – no exp orbs from killing mobs already at 50% or less health before engaging. 7 – no exp orbs from killing mobs that are dying from sunlight burn.
