I have been stuck on my minecraft world when the Biomes got shifted around, I think in 1.8 Beta and when i go to search for new land I find nothing but endless Oceans and and some small islands or Mushrooms island
I believe my world got moved onto a ocean Biome when that update came out but what I'm looking for is a way to find the large continents that is normally found at spawn.
Are there any third party tools that could help me on this problem or clues in the terrain to point me in the right direction.
My world has been generated in 1.1.0 Alpha and it has many different types of versions of minecraft in the generated land and a lot of work has been put into it so I definitely don't want to start a new world

Go to nether. Make portals every 128 or more blocks... You should come out on a continent eventually. Each block traveled in the nether = 8 blocks in the overworld, so at 128 blocks each portal you make would jump you 1024 blocks in the overworld.
Keep the portals at or above y=60 in the nether so the portal will spawn at or near the surface if its not blocked/water.
