Budget is $800.
I was thinking something around the lines of a i5, 6970, 1tb hdd, and for accesories maybe a razer lyscosa and razer imperator.
CPU: 3930k GPU: 7970 PSU: TX850Wv2 Case: HAF X Cooler: H100 (I like it) HDD: 1 120GB for start, and 6TB for storage. Mobo: Asus Rampage IV Extreme RAM: 16Gb

Desktop i would reccomend building one, or Powerspec

Laptop Well, Get a Dell not a Mac.

Powerspecs are like the most affordable most powerful(for the price) out there.

But overall Building one is your best bet.

Yup build your own, I would recommend MSI or Asus for laptops though.

Spectacular. For the same price, you could get something much, much faster than the Mac.

I would recommend a 2500k and a 560ti 448 core. I can get a specific build, if you'd like.

Derp, thought you said $1000 budget. Christoi's build below me looks great.

Well, one of the pictures just posted showed a laptop for $1000 dollars that is about as good as a mac for over $2000.

Also, if you don't like windows and don't want to pay too much for a computer, you could try linux.
Why aren't micro ATX cases called μATX?

Getting a 2500k+6950 in that build may be a bit difficult, especially once you add an OS. This should be a decent choice, but you may want to consider a Seagate 500GB drive since the Caviar Blue's appear to have risen in price recently. It's only including the computer and OS though, if he needs peripherals, you'll be looking at a $600-650 build.

Every current £800 custom build pc could wipe the floor with the mac, often macs use underpowered hardware and it is sold at a premium.
Don't give us the whole stability and no virus bullshit because none of that is true.

Windows can be just as stable.
