At the ash Wednesday mass thing at my school today, I realized a few things.
First, is Jesus threatening me? FOR DUST YOU ARE, AND FOR DUST YOU SHALL RETURN. Gennisis 3:19
Second, I believe that there's some guy up in the sky, but I'm not sure if its who everyones talking about.
Third, I'm not going to beg for mercy, if God comes down to do "Say Mercy" with me, I'll make sure I have my 870 shotgun beside me.
Fourth, this WAS A JOKE. It makes a point, but I still want to go to heaven, so God, I am just joking, I am sorry. I beg you for mercy.

At my old school, Ash Wednesday was a competition to see who could keep the cross on their forehead the longest.

The kids in the grade below me plan to draw dicks male genitalia on people's heads when they are in grade twelve (the grade 12's distribute the ashes at my school). I'm glad that I would've graduated by that time.

After a quick Google, it's a Christian thing that has to do with how Jesus fasted (didn't eat) for 40 days before Easter. Those 40 days are called Lent, and Ash Wednesday is the first of those 40 days.

There's some kind of ritualistic ash-rubbing involved.

EDIT: Can I ask why this happened in schools? Did you go to a religious school, OP?

It's part of the Christian religion. It's just part of our beliefs, no need for anyone to come here and insult it (glad nobody on this thread did it yet).

Yeah, that's good.

I wonder why people with strong opinions that can seriously offend someone just have the urge to post their crap

"Ill tell you what you did with Atheists for about 1500 years. You outlawed them from the universities, or any teaching careers, besmirched their reputations, banned or burned their books or their writings of any kind, drove them into exile, humiliated them, seized their properties, arrested them for blasphemy. You dehumanized them with beatings and exquisite torture, gouged out their eyes, slit their tongues, stretched, crushed, or broke their limbs, tore off their breasts if they were a woman, crushed their scrotums of they were men, imprisoned them, stabbed them, disemboweled them, hung them, burnt them alive. And you have the nerve enough to complain to me that I laugh at you."

My only point is to not complain about people insulting or making fun of your beliefs. If it happens so often, maybe it isn't the insults that are the problem. Maybe it's your beliefs. :)
