If the downloads not going all the way through than its not surprising that the bin folder only has a couple of files in it. Here is what I would try, though I have no idea whether it will work or not. First delete the bin folder than go to the minecraft website login than go back to the main page of the minecraft website and click "play in browser". It should go through the same loading process. After it is done you can close it down and again try to play it through the client.(Also make sure your JAVA is up to date, I feel like I need to attach this to every piece of advice I give out.)

I am having same issues as the thread starter, and have tried doing exactly that (going through browser) and get the same issue. And I certainly have the most up-to-date Java.

Okay, I got mine working. Steps that I took:
Deleted my .minecraft folder in my AppData folder.
Ran minecraft.jar (the linux version of minecraft)
This got me the lwjgl.jar
It would then get stuck at minecraft.jar
I opened in-browser game (after closing minecraft application locally)
It would give me the same problem. I left it open and opened my local minecraft.jar
It then froze once, I restarted the application and it downloaded everything.

I have a 64 bit windows system and I have been running a 32 bit Java so I decided to upgrade my Java to a 64 bit. Then I deleted my .mincraft folder and launched minecraft. It starts downloading everytime but gets stuck on retrieving lwjga.jar 11%. Should I go back to a 32 bit Java or is there a simple fix to this? Please help!!!!!

not sure about the OP this may work should work for zigaboo99 sounds like what i had

For me the problem was my antivirus, i have avg so to get it to work i had to go onto avg, tools, advanced settings, temporarily disable protection then download minecraft and imediatlly re-enable AVG. The is an add to exceptions in the same menu but this didnt work for me.

Yup, just did a quick vid about it http://www.youtube.c...h?v=nUGA7rIQhag problem is with me if AVG is off minecraft sound works but when it switches on during playthrough it will crash and makes MC loose sound but at least it works..... just have to remember to turn it back on.
