Hello, I have been running a server for awhile now and recently I have been having lag after about an hour of the server being up. It will be fine for ages and then will become unbearable. Nothing has changed which confuses me but I have noticed that when I open up my activity monitor (Mac) under 'Real mem' it has like a Gb of memory. When I start the server, it starts on about 500 mb and overtime it will work its way up until it reaches a Gb and then it begins to lag big time...



The server is running with 6GB of ram so there shouldnt be any problems there...

Thanks for any help - I have spent quite literally hours trying to solve this...

I used to use /reload a fair bit but for quite awhile now I've been using /stop and then restarting it...

Edit: Oh, and the "Warning" messages all have reasons:

Showcase - Doesn't support PermissionsBukkit which is what im using...
SignLink - Hasn't had an update made for R4 yet but works fine anyway...
MyWarp - Just doesnt have a help file I suppose

Using /reload would most likely be the cause of this, it creates new instances of plugins, while unloading the old ones. Most commonly, this causes memory leaks, and then you have...

It is possible one of your plugins has a memory leak, which will cause a major issue.

What Java are you using?

The more popular ones will not have that issue.

Try running the server without any plugins for a few hours. Does it still go up?

I have left it running for awhile and there is no lagg so far - Infact, it isnt even coming up on the Activity Monitor...

I think it's the NoLagg plugin, my server was having almost the exact same issue until it became unresponsive after almost the exact time-frame mentioned.

GitHub issue report 13 for NoLagg

I recommend that you try removing NoLagg and see if that helps. If it does, bump the github issue I linked so the plugin author actually looks at it.

Thankyou Soooo Much! That has fixed the memory issue - Ill bump the github issue now

But for some reason, after awhile, the CPU goes up to like 140% from 30% and then jumps back down... I'm not sure if this is natural of what but it doesnt seem to do any damage - Just wondering...
