Hi

I run a survival server that's been getting bigger and bigger. It's gotten to the point where it's becoming too hard to be the only OP, so I've started trying to use permissions. I'm good with php and html so I figured permissions would be a breeze, but I just can't seem to figure it out :/

I tried using bPermissions first, and even watched both of their setup videos for like half an hour. For some reason I screwed that all up and went back to OP. Next I tried using bukkit's default permissions.yml. I made that up then realized I still need some other plugin to manage groups, and at that point I got completely confused again.

I can't seem to find a plugin that I can figure out. I get confused when trying to add nodes because both methods I used seemed to do them differently. I couldn't even figure out how to give myself the default server commands.

I'm getting desperate here.

If someone could point me to a specific permission plugin to use and help me set up permissions for Guest, Builder, Mod, Admin, that would be amazing.

My plugins:
Logblock
LWC
SimpleAdmin
Worldedit
Worldguard

Those are really the only ones I need permissions for. Build rights fro builder and higher, some simpleadmin commands for mods, and logblock, worldedit, worldguard for admin + all default OP commands.

I'm completely lost at this point. I've been working at this for weeks and have about given up.

ok this is what I have so far, and it's working, but I still need to add my regular permissions. It also looks like groups don't have inheritance. Am I wrong about that? Do I need to add each permission to each group?

My admin permissions are '*'. Does that mean I have every single permission for every plugin I install? From there can I then just add individual nodes I want other groups to have?

ok sorry to post again. This is my final config file before going to bed. The plan is to get it all right, then install it on my server and use my pre-built config files.

Will that give each of those groups those abilities? Will that give me access to EVERY COMMAND for every plugin, or do I need to add each and every one to be able to use them as admin? Thank you and goodnight.

Assuming you're using the correct permissions, that looks right. And yes, the wildcard node works on every permissions plugin I've used.

Thank you. I actually tested it on my test server with a few plugins and everything works as intended. I'm afraid to throw it up before bed so I'll wait till tomorrow when I can be on for the first few hours to make sure everything is going smoothly. I think it will make it a lot easier for people to join and play anytime.

Is it normal to have

for each and every player? Seems like the permission file would get huge pretty fast.
