Some of the community members were asking for a "blood moon" type event where there would be an increase in mob spawning and possibly stronger mobs for a single night. Basically a "zombie siege" event.

My guess is that they're testing this behavior with villages.

I'm pretty sure Jon or Jeb mentioned something about zombie sieges on villages.

Jep let's see what it's truly is, now with the rate of breeding they do so far, a city is pretty much save, even without a defense.

I don't know if it was a good choice to set the villager limit to the existing houses in a village. But I don't mind it either. ;) Hope the more worse nights will be more worse according the population the village has! That would be awesome.

What if the player builds a house?
Does the testificates recognize it as an extra house and breed to popullate it?

It appears to only happen in villages.

the villages need further improvement when spawning. all houses needs to have proper lighting when generated else a zombie may spawn inside the house. villagers should be able to defend themself, way too low life as it is right now. also zombie crashing doors should be proper implemented. yes it's only in hard mode. but a village doesn't stand a chance in hard mode after one night . in my testing none survived. villagers should be able to pick up and replace the doors or something.

It's a good thing none of this is finished, or in the game yet.

Does anyone know if the zombie siege is purely based on the seed of where an NPC village should be? Or does it check for NPC houses? A while ago I moved in to an NPC village but have since torn it down and have made an amusement park there. I really, really, really don't want to have tons of zombies spawning all the time inside the park at night :-\

They recognise everything what you build as a house, as long it has a bit of walls (Doesn't need to have to be finished) and a door. They populate in it although.
Here a little screen, of a babymaking barn what i created to house sheeps! The villager accepted it too and they accept it even with broken open walls.

I really would like if villagers recognise only house as "living house" when there is one or 2 furnite in it too. Would make it much more easier to plan a village design for them to life in.

That is really cool! Doesn't happened in my village so far. I probably secured it to right for it too happen. Mmmh guess with the new breeding behaviour I can lower the torch count a bit to accept more monster in the village over night.

I just witnessed a village being over-run by zombies. The door-breaking noise it terrifying.
Other mobs seem to have no interest in the villagers, only zombies. Maybe it's the brain obsession they have?

Instant flashbacks of loving every single episode of scooby doo where the gang was in a haunted or an abandoned amusement park!!

Once all the Testificates have died is it possible to re-populate a village?
Please don't post ambiguous thread titles. "Help" and "This is cool" etc. are annoying. An example of a good thread title would be "Help, Ocelots keep eating my Villagers". That way we know what your thread is about.

I don't think so; I'm pretty sure it becomes a ghost town.

Maybe they should implement some form of migration where you can encourage Testificates to follow you from another village or they do it by themselves.

That sounds pretty complicated; besides, I like the idea of ghost towns.

All I want now is for villagers to gather their own resources, build their own houses, and make their own weapons, tools, and armor.

It would be glorious.

You can encourage them now by running them over with a minecart and then transporting them via rails from village #1 to village #2. Thus how I moved all of the villagers from an NPC village on my SMP server into my town

I like the idea of that, but I'd rather see manpower applied to things that benefit gameplay and not just aesthetics.
