Only time will tell how awesome this update will be. Now i can make things 2X taller.

Edit: Hopefully this is gonna set the stage for the modding API which i hope is coming next week!

Sounds great. Being able to build taller means we'll be seeing some crazy towers hopefully.

Terrain generation needs to get more advanced and this allows for it. We could now have large plains and such above and below sea level. Waterfalls are more aesthetically possible. I can not wait!!

Sounds awesome :D
Sounds like it'll be a lot less resource- and disk space intensive, and allow for even better mods by making them easier to make :)

With the new block ID's being added in, hopefully now we can get those long awaited block variations that will finally complete those long overdue finishing touches.

Examples:
Obsidian/Glass/Sandstone Stair Blocks,
New fence variations like a Birch wood fence,
Stained Glass maybe?

The list goes on but these are things I think should be in the game simply for symmetrical/aesthetic purposes.

Also I'm pretty sure there's a Stained Glass mod out there somewhere, but I think we should be given it in Vanilla as the tools are already there: Dyes and Glass put into a Crafting Bench with Glass in the centre square and 8 dyes of the desired colour surrounding it (I know that's pretty obvious, but in case a question arose on how it would be done its answered already).

Jeb, though, either way man the community is happy with these awesome changes. Good job man!

This wouldn't be a bad idea. Maybe they could be added more resources.
