I'm looking for a program just like mcedit that can do a few specific things: non-cube schematics and change a specific block to another block.
Example1: I have a gray-wool sphere but I want to change it to blue wool.
Example2: I want to be able to place creations that go partway into the ground correctly without pockets/edges of unwanted air blocks.

There's something like that - WorldEdit. But you can't export and import schematics with it. You easily can change for example dirt to stone with the command "//replace dirt stone". It's all ingame - to install it, you have to install SinglePlayer Commands and put the WorldEdit.jar file into your .minecraft/bin directory.

i was just looking at the mods page he did ransom it i guess then released the source code and someone else took up the tourch idk if there is an official mc edit anymore though
pitty, i could really use this. my 1.0 world gets the biome change/snow everywhere corruption when i convert it to 1.2.3 now, and i had just finished making a kickass mountan fortress..

Sorry for the useless comment, but I'd just like to say that I'm looking for the same thing. Mcedit just hasn't got what it used to. It's getting really old and there needs to by at least a full overhaul or another program that's like Mcedit, but improved.
