Hello, I have a problem with group manager.

I want the new joining users to be able to build but not near the spawn.
Here is my config file for Group Manager.

# Group inheritance
# any inherited groups prefixed with a g: are global groups
# These groups are defined in the globalgroups.yml
# and can be inherited in any worlds groups/users.yml.
#
# Groups without the g: prefix are groups local to this world
# and defined in the this groups.yml file.

groups:
  Default:
    default: true
    permissions:
    - essentials.help
    - essentials.helpop
    - essentials.list
    - essentials.motd
    - essentials.rules

# If you receive an error when Essentials loads, ensure that:
#   - No tabs are present: YAML only allows spaces
#   - Indents are correct: YAML heirarchy is based entirely on indentation
#   - You have "escaped" all apostrophes in your text: If you want to write "don't", for example, write "don''t" instead (note the doubled apostrphe)
#   - List items are prefixed with a hyphen and indented:

#       not:
#       - like this
#   - Text with symbols is enclosed in single or double quotation marks
#   - CraftBukkit and Permissions have been updated: CraftBukkit and Essentials almost always line up, but sometimes other plugins fall behind CraftBukkit's multiple daily updates
#   - You have saved the document as UTF-8, NOT the default, ANSI

# usually whichever plugin was updated most recently wins out.  However, the full name of the command will always work.
# For example, if WorldGuard and Essentials are both enabled, and WorldGuard takes control over /god, /essentials:god
# will still map to Essentials, whereas it might normally get forced upon WorldGuard.  Commands prefixed with an "e",
# such as /egod, will always grant Essentials priority.

Next time, please paste your code as a snippet (two arrows in the menu, next to quote button).
 like this

That way we get to see the original code, not a copy/paste ^.^

As for the not building near spawn, I might suggest getting Factions, which CAN be a great way to keep PVP going if you want to allow it. If not, just don't give anyone the permissions to create a faction. Factions has a great feature that lets you claim land for the SafeZone, where nobody can build or be damaged(unless you allow factions.managesafezone as a permission in certain groups).

WorldGuard is probably better for what you're looking for, though.

About the first choice, how can I use world guard to let new players break blocks?
Can it work with the Group Manager for essentials?

Reason why I want this:
My friend spawns too many items in the game, so I want him to be able
to break blocks, but not be an op.

Thanks

Look up WorldGuard information. There's an entire wiki dedicated to WorldGuard / World Edit.
In a nutshell...
Define the region
/region define spawn
Add a member to the region
/region addmember spawn <insert-name-here>
Set some flags (pvp, greeting, farewell, etc.)
/region flag spawn pvp deny
/region flag greeting Welcome! You are currently in the spawn
/region flag farewell Be careful out there
Build is disabled by default, but if you ever want to enable it for some reason...
/region flag build allow

My username and avatar don't match for a reason...

Sir, you've made the region format so much easier for me to understand :D
Now I won't have to solely rely on Factions

Are you using a chat plugin like OKChat or EssentialsChat?

"You do not have permission to speak in Global."
I also have chat radius set to 0
Can someone tell me a permission I can give to groups so that they can all chat
EDIT: Also anyone that can't talk doesn't see the MOTD when they log in

Check your essentials spawn and worldguard config to allow building at spawn. you may just need to sue a spawn set plugin and let people build through that for simplicity. Don't forget you need worldedit with world guard. By default non-ops should not be allowed to build within x blocks of spawn, but anything beyond that needs worldguard.

Commands:

-Select area with world edit
- /region define spawn
- /region claim spawn <your name>

How do you add people to these groups? Where do you add there name or something? I have a new server with essentials group manager and i have searched the web and havent found anything for it? If you cant answer at least post a link,  thx!

world guard
World Guard sets neither spawn nor groups.
