I was playing Minecraft the other day and after i was done on my server i accidentally hit the X instead of typing stop. I removed the server and re-downloaded it. I also port forwarded it again. After all that I went to connect it again and it wont connect. The server is running fine it just wont connect with Minecraft. Everytime i go to connect it it says it cant reach the server. I checked my firewalls and it is allowed through. I also tried rebooting my computer and Minecraft and the Minecraft Server. If anyone has any idea how to fix this it would be much appreciated.

Register or log in to remove.

If you had already port forwarded the port 25565 once, You shouldn't need to do it again unless you removed this in your router.
If it's working fine and you don't want anybody to log in and play with you then try to connect just by typing in the smp ip "localhost" Also in your server properties, the ip line should be left blank. If you've done all that and it connects and is running fine, try port forwarding again.

I have been trying to help a friend connect to a server. Another friend hosts the server that both of us connect to. I am able to connect just fine, but the friend I have been helping can't connect and get's "can't reach server". He has deleted the server and re-entered the info exactly like I have it. He has turned off his firewall and added 25565 to acceptable ports. I am not sure what else can be done. Any help would be appreciated.

I really need some help on this. I have restarted my server over and over again and it won't work.
My problem is that I can connect but my friends cant. Also does anyone know how to keep it up 24/7 on a mac ? Help very much appreciated.

People, this post is to help Reyvon with his server issue. These other issues are not the same, and should be posted on their own thread.

Reyvon,
The first thing we want to do is see if the server works locally. And then isolate the issue from there.

Are you running, or able to run, the server on the same computer you're playing Minecraft on? If yes, then on that computer open the Minecraft Client and add a new multiplayer server with the address "127.0.0.1". This is what is called a loopback address, and makes the computer connect to it's self directly. Let us know if you can connect successfully this way.
