Snapshot 13w24b needed some revisions, so let's hear it for Snapshot 13w25a! This quick-fix Snapshot is chock-full of awesome fixes, so let's not waste any time!

BUG FIXES AHOY!

3D Anaglyph biome color corruption
Incorrect/inconsistent command success criteria breaks Comparator behavior
Possible to create a scoreboard objective without a name
Birch leaves don't use the right texture
Last played singleplayer world changes date last opened to 1/1/70
Crash selecting resource pack
Server crash / hang after typing /kill
Flowing water / lava color corrupted after switching off 3d anaglyph
Igniting TNT doesn't reduce flint and steel durability
Some animated textures only show the placeholder texture
Crash uploading textures to graphics card
Armor bar shown too high during Health Boost or Absorption
Health and Absorption is confusing when displayed on the same line
Resource packs not effective until after restart
Grum no longer affected by gravity

Time for this week's Snapshot, 13w24a! Comprised mainly of bugfixes, there are a few goodies - or, in the case of textures, laying the foundation for goodies - in store, however!

FEATURES:

Removed Texture Pack support, added Resource Packs
Added new gamerule for day-night cycle
Things and stuff

BUGFIXES:

Mobs spawn and then quickly despawn in peaceful. Looks like the "ender-porting-out-of-water" effect.
You can't get "The End?" achievement
Persistence required tag freezes mobs
Squids taking damage while in water
Hard to spawn Squids
Scoreboard "health" objective set to display "belowname" disconnecting player on multiplayer with end of stream
Lava texture animation moves too fast / Animated textures ignoring text files

WAIT, MY TEXTURE PACKS LOOK ALL BROKEN AND WRONG AND...:

Nope, there is a new texture system now in place, in preparation for the future of the Mod API!

We’ve been working really hard on the new Resource Pack system, and we think it’s at the point where we can finally push it live. This is a huge step forward for the future mod API and will replace texture packs.

Unfortunately, texture packs will no longer be supported but you can use this fancy tool to automatically convert them! Please report all issues about resource packs, and the snapshot in general, to our bug tracker!

Minecraft Coming For Xbox One!

Bigger worlds! More players! Blocks!

Minecraft was confirmed for the Xbox One yesterday at E3, spear-headed by 360 veterans 4J Studios. Currently, much of what MCX1 will bring to the table is being kept quiet, but behind-the-scenes discussions are, to say the very least, very promising indeed!

Minecraft began on PC, moving first to the Xbox 360, then to portable devices (iOS, Android), spanning well over 20 million players across the board. With their foray into the next-gen Xbox console, it is expected that even more players will join the best gaming community ever, and discover what the rest of us already know: that Minecraft is one of the most awesome games ever!

Details for MCX1 will be revealed in the coming days, so keep your ears to the ground as we bring you all the latest news!

Have you ever wanted to be super tiny? Maybe a shrink ray hit you, or you are a micro-powered superhero. What would that look like in Minecraft?

Wonder no more! Youtuber SethBling is creating a video series that will be re-creating various blocks and objects in the Minecraft world, in a 16:1 scale! This particular episode features 16x scale recreations of the comparator, end portal block, and a fully working bed! Yes, I said "the bed works like a real bed"; you can only use it at night, it sets your spawn point, you black out, and when your vision returns, it's daytime! Curious how it works?
