Digital Diamond: Minecart Punch

Minecrafter pg-5 has developed a highly entertaining game for others to enjoy, which has the addictive, challenging qualities of whack-a-mole! Players can choose a difficulty level, then attempt to "punch" minecarts as they come down multi-colored tracks. Each hit counts as a point, which is kept tallied on a real-time digital display nearby. Easy to learn, but difficult to master, this game will consume hours of players' time. Take a look!

Digital Diamond: Truly Grand Piano

Youtuber FVDisco has created a fully functioning, redstone, noteblock & piston-driven piano! If that wasn't amazing enough, it's also fully programmable! This video gives us a pre-made song to hear, then walks us through the process of setting up a song from scratch. Take a look!

What's Going On: Notch's Mini-game, Lawsuit Updates

Notch & the Ludum Dare
Notch recently took part in the 48-hour Ludum Dare contest, with "escape" as the theme. What did he create? Find out for yourself - play it here! Resembling a cross between the old Windows 95 "maze" screensaver and and a dungeon crawler, this game is a remarkable, entertaining experience, especially for having been created in such a short period of time. Check it out!
The Lawsuit Continues
Notch mentioned recently that since Bethesda was responsible for Quake 3, challenging them to their own game "might have been a poor choice,” citing the high likelihood of Bethesda having professional Quake 3 players on staff as a reason why. “If it came to a Quake 3 tournament, I have a feeling we just might have to change the name,” but still feels that the match-up would “bring both parties a lot of good PR.” He went on to add that he was still taking the lawsuit itself very seriously, and that he would continue to fight it "for as long as it takes,” noting that Bethesda has several one-word titles in their library.
Mojang continues to work on the upcoming 1.8 Adventure Update as well, showing no signs of slowing down.
Pigtales! ...Pigtales?
Mojang has an amusing project that you can take part in: Pigtales! It is a small sketch made with sock puppets, designed to look like Minecraft's pig. The spoken "dialogue" is mainly just silly noises, but this is where you come in - you can add your own lines, via captions, to the video to make it whatever you want! For example, Notch and Deadmau5 have already come up with their own versions. I might have even made one... What story will you tell? Back to Top
Digital Diamond: Tetris - Or Is It?

Today's Digital Diamond is a special treat for those of us who grew up with the old black-and-green Game Boy systems: a stop-motion Tetris game, made inside Minecraft, by JoBilly! This breath-taking pixel-by-pixel recreation took many hours to complete, one snapshotted frame at a time. In response to massive skepticism of the video's authenticity, the author has provided numerous sources of proof, including a how-to vid. This video has to be seen to be believed, give it a look!

Digital Diamond: Minecraft Music Video

Youtuber CaptainSparklez brings us a parody of Usher's DJ Got Us Fallin' In Love, with a decidedly humorous Minecraft twist! Clever fight (and dance) choreography, diamond mining, creepers and more await! Give it a look! Back to Top
Notch Takes Part in Ludum Dare

Scrolls Comic, MineCon Opportunities
PAX is coming up fast, so we've been paying some attention to Penny Arcade. Evidently, they have been following the Bethesda lawsuit as well. It seems they see no small amount of humor in the situation, even offering a tongue-in-cheek resolution of their own.
In addition - Mojang is offering indie developers a chance for some exposure at MineCon, by providing a space and opportunity to demonstrate their games on the main exhibition floor! Any indie developers interested in this opportunity can fill out this form. Back to Top
