Modpack Spotlight - Agrarian Skies
The (Minecraft) world has ended, and there is nothing left. Well, ALMOST nothing; Code Wizards meddled in the balance of nature, and released hordes of monsters from other dimensions on an unsuspecting world. Not satisfied with just destroying human life, the monsters rampaged across the world eating everything they could find, and leaving nothing in their wake but empty void.
Now, it is up to you to rebuild an entire world from nearly nothing.
Agrarian Skies is a popular modpack made by Jadedcat, which takes the classic idea of a skyblock game, and cranks it up many, many notches. You start with a quest book, which guides you on your journey. Numerous spells, tools, and machines are at your disposal to complete your arduous task. However, be warned: this is not a modpack for the faint of heart! Loads of challenges, monsters, and more await you on your journey. Do you have what it takes to build an entire world?
One final note - you have a limited number of lives. That's right, you can only die so much before reality has had enough, and leaves you dead forever!
The quest book's introductory quest has a full voice-over as well, done by your favorite MCF news writer!
HOW DO I PLAY?
If you have the FTB Launcher, you can play simply by downloading the Agrarian Skies modpack, and starting up your game!
I have 6gb ram dedicated to FTB
i7 920 2.6 overclocked to 3.2
Version 2 of this modpack has full multiplayer support. When one person does a quest, the other person auto completes it too. The quests are synced so long as you create a party, which you should...

"This pack is now SMP Compatible and includes a new map made by Morvelaira"
same happens to me, i was looking forward to trying this. this is a major error, any way to fix this?
You are not suppose to start a new world but use a preexisting one they provide already in the Saves folder and in-game menu for they have the start material you need. New worlds are just empty void all around, you will fall to death each time unless creative and use an Angel Block and build a platform around it.
Why would that be forced? To off casuals?
I mentioned in my first post in this thread. Get the mod called Server Tools, install it to the Mods folder and run the pack once, then exit and config Server Tools config to do at least 30 min backups or 1 hour backups, or what you feel comfortable with and set it to keep at least 5 backups or however many you want, for it deletes oldest as it makes a new one when limit is reached. The map backups are never larger then 6MBs really each. This mod works both on server and client. Note for client is if you play on a different map, it will start to overwrite backups that are of another map as a forewarn. But better safe then sorry in this kind of thing.
But yes, I do suggest turning on gamerules doFireTick False and mobGriefing False (Cause infernal mobs is HIGHLY not funny, personal choice) as well keepInventory True.
To prevent abuse of restoring hunger by death. Jadedcat, she loves people to starve to death. Or die in general to say. I mean yes, could prevent such by other ways, but this is JadedCat for you.
Imo though, hunger is hard at first, but when you get a cobble gen, life gets much better.
You can turn it off in the config. Doesn't make much sense for me to give you lives as a reward if there isn't a penalty for losing your lives. Several people wanted me to do a hardcore by default pack. This is the result. If you know the mods and you know vanilla and you follow the quest book and you stay out of the nether its very hard to die in this pack from anything other than walking off the edge.
PS for the guy asking how to get more dirt, fill up a barrel with 8 saplings and it turns into dirt in a short while.
How can i change it in the config? in what file.cfg?
There is apparently a lone dirty chest on the house map somewhere that has spare stuff you can get your hands dirty with. Where it is? That is a dirty secret to say.
AgrarianSkiesHQ \ minecraft \ config \ hqm \ hqmconfig.cfg
An then change line #20 to false.
Or
You can change default lives to 255 on line #25 and work like that, you still leave the hardcore challenge there, somewhat.
Ok thank you!
But that means you shouldn't be "reviewing" it and posting as "news." That's advertisement.
There are many, many qualified people who would love to be PAID to test and write about minecraft mods and different versions of the game and to parrot news from http://minecraft.gam...coming_features
It doesn't matter if you are actually honest or not, when you bend the sites integrity, it's bad for it, and that's bad for minecraft.
And i like minecraft
Employed would suggest payment. Its not a mod, its a modpack made of 64 different mods by different authors many of whom do not know Sacheverelle. Sache did me a favor and voiced the intro because my voice is not good for that type thing.
Sache is however employed to do Minecraft News. Go search Agrarian Skies on Youtube or Twitch or even Reddit. Currently its news. I am not sure why since all I wanted to do was build a pack for some friends but for some reason a lot of people are enjoying it. For me it was successful the instant my friends and I had fun playing it. If more people have fun that is great. Attributing ulterior motives to a guy doing his job and spotlighting popular content is rather petty.
I would be quite surprised if Curse fired Sache for doing his job. Even if his job did overlap somewhat with another portion of his life. Then again maybe I am wrong and a Curse person might correct me. *shrug*
Me I am just happy Sache was willing to do the voice over, Morvelaira was willing to build the map the mod authors were willing to fix bugs and add features to make the mods work and the community was willing to help write "lore" to turn it towards RPG. So many wonderful helpful people have worked together on this. And I am happy some people are enjoying the pack. I find it awesome that a simple project has become such a community event.
Did you look at the map? There is no world... just a platform.
No, the House world is specially made with a Strong Box to provide you with the materials you need to get started. Refer to my post herefor screenshots of my world thus far in the spoiler, which is about 56 hours input so far (a lot of time spent ore gathering), to see what i mean by premade excluding the wood platforming.
The Flat Platform world is just a small barebone platform with a strong box and starter supplies and you are left to do what you want to survive. Simple said, the House map is good for new people to this, the Flat Platform world is good for experienced people. However such is personal opinions.
skybox uses a custom terrian generator, lol, this is just a glitched mod which requires already made worlds
lol, fail
